thanksdailykosak wrote:honestly, I don't remember specifics. It has been 14 years. The general idea is pretty simple though: in state tuition is heavily subsidized by NC taxpayers and UNC has a cap on the number of OS students it can take. The institution has an obligation to the legislature and to NC taxpayers to try to make sure that the people paying the subsidized rate are NC residents already or, if they are seeking residency, that they are likely to remain in the state. So, the board is essentially trying to glean how likely it is that you will stay in NC after school. If you are just going to eat and run, they aren't interested in picking up the tab.curtfen wrote:this is correct. I had to appear before the residency panel and answer questions for around half an hour.
what kind of questions did they ask you that weren't already covered in the documentation you submitted?

Don't lose hope. I doubt they have sent out a majority of their acceptances at this point.jerzgrl630 wrote:I'm strongly debating composing an emo-style love song about my longing for a decision from UNC. The longer this takes, the more I doubt the decision will be favorable.

So true. Although rumor was that they were hoping to most acceptances done by March 1, they were ahead of schedule, etc. I've definitely been psyching myself out.dailykosak wrote:jerzgrl630 wrote:LSATfromNC wrote:Don't lose hope. Remember that the admission deadline was actually march 1 and that they didn't start reviewing most of them until mid-january. Chin up everyone, and hope for the best.

Gah, don't do this to me! I need this thread to stay on the back page unless I have something in my inbox. I felt complete panic when I saw this thread on the new posts page. Can it just be May already? With that said, +1BlueHeel wrote:Alright UNC, lets see some love this week!

Truth. I have a feeling some acceptances will be going out this week, especially if they were serious about that March 1st thing.jerzgrl630 wrote:We are long overdue for some love on this thread.
Yes, I am hoping they send out another round before they dig into the scholarship notifications. (no offense to hopeful scholars!)mytwocents wrote:Truth. Who knows? I'm pretty sure they said all decisions would go out via snail mail, but they've been doing most acceptances by e-mail and others by phone. As long as they accept me, I don't care how they decide to do itmissvik218 wrote:They do all notification via e-mail right?
Haha, me either! I'd just like to know which direction to be looking.jerzgrl630 wrote:Who knows? Yeah me too. I pretty much hold my breath whenever my phone rings, I check e-mail, or the mail arrives. It would be nice to narrow it down.missvik218 wrote:Haha, me either! This is what Dean States stated at an open house event last month. He promised May 1st, but said that his office is trying very hard to get an answer out by March 1st.insertclevernamehere wrote:Hey, not to be a skeptic or "debbie downer" but I was wondering what the source for this March 1 rumor was?
UNC, even as an OOS, is becoming my number 1 choice right now which has caused me to be on edge for the past few weeks. If this is just something that has taken on an internet "truthiness" to it I would want to know for my sanity.
Thanks!
May first would be sooooo late. all of my other schools first seat deposits are due by thend-cannon wrote:This is what Dean States stated at an open house event last month.
