Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
I'm targeting August 1st as well. I've put my name in for a place and hopefully I get it, but it doesn't seem like it's that difficult to get an apartment. I'm just enjoying the summer right now. I'll start stressing about moving and starting school next month.RareExports wrote:So when is everyone moving to STL? I am targeting an August 1st move hopefully.

Yep, ideally August 1.
I haven't committed to any apartment yet. Maybe near the end of June.

None of you need to worry. STL is not NYC/DC/LA, you can get whatever you're looking for for cheap and you can get it whenever. Seriously you could just move here and get a place in a day. ~Missourah~

I know the whole "Missourah" thing is in jest, but are there people in St. Louis that actually say it that way? Should I say it that way? Is this like Louisville (Luh-vul)?
These are important questions.
ETA: I'm from Idaho and sometimes fuck with people and pronounce it "Eedahoo" and they usually believe me that that's how it's supposed to be pronounced.

What about me using "Missourah" gave you the idea that it was in jest? You've been following along this whole time?

Living at the Quadrangle is life changing. Highly recommend. Just don't forget bug spray.

Hey! I'm driving down to stl from Boise (locals tell me it's pronounced boy-c, still not completely sure after living there 2 years) this August! I just felt Idaho was small enough of a state to get excited about that connection.

Your excitement is both valid and reciprocated. We should meet up!w00kash wrote:RareExports wrote:I know the whole "Missourah" thing is in jest, but are there people in St. Louis that actually say it that way? Should I say it that way? Is this like Louisville (Luh-vul)?

Also, you are correct in saying boy-c (I promise I'm telling the truth this time, even if I'm not from the Boise area).

I'm definitely down to meet up some time. I pretty much identify as an Idahoan nowadays, regardless of my pronunciation of boy-c/z.RareExports wrote:Your excitement is both valid and reciprocated. But on that note, Missouri is clearly super redneck, except for St. Louis where it's super dangerous. Therefore, everyone undecided should just withdraw now and those of us on the waitlist will endure it instead

"Highway farty" is probably my favorite STLism, besides the butchering of various French street names.peachesthedoge wrote:if you think "missourah" is bad wait til someone congratulates you on going to "warshington university"

Dunno if this would be better to ask on this thread or on the Ask A Graduate thread, but what's the gym like at WUSTL? I hated my gym at undergrad because it was always really crowded and full of football players actin out etc, especially the free weights area. Similar vibe at the washu gym or nah? anyone have a membership to another gym near the school for some reason?/have any recommendations?

The gym at school is shit, but they're building a brand new athletic center, which would be done after your 1L year iirc.tealeaves12 wrote:Dunno if this would be better to ask on this thread or on the Ask A Graduate thread, but what's the gym like at WUSTL? shit like, bare bones (which may be fine) or shit like only athletes use/shitty hours/always crowded/dirty (less fine)? exciting about the athletic center thoughscottidsntknow wrote:The gym at school is shit, but they're building a brand new athletic center, which would be done after your 1L year iirc.tealeaves12 wrote:Dunno if this would be better to ask on this thread or on the Ask A Graduate thread, but what's the gym like at WUSTL? WUSTL builds a lot of shit and they build it quickly, so I wouldn't worry. Definitely bare bones, but also just too small for the size of the student population.tealeaves12 wrote:shit like, bare bones (which may be fine) or shit like only athletes use/shitty hours/always crowded/dirty (less fine)? exciting about the athletic center thoughscottidsntknow wrote:The gym at school is shit, but they're building a brand new athletic center, which would be done after your 1L year iirc.tealeaves12 wrote:Dunno if this would be better to ask on this thread or on the Ask A Graduate thread, but what's the gym like at WUSTL?
