Not giving people an initial decision by mid-April is crazy. Dear Columbia: please respond to your held candidates. If you're just going to waitlist us all, you could have done so a while ago and let us move on with our lives and/or plan for the fall accordingly.

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
What I draw from this is Columbia must be really happy with their current class; they can't assume that many of us are going to be enthralled getting a decision mid or late April.
I imagine most of you are like me and beginning to create plans at other schools even if Columbia is a top or first choice.

Given the wait list performance at CLS in the past, they seem to be pretty good at constructing a solid class without dipping too deeply into their pile of disgruntled waiters. I, for one, am happy to attend CLS even if it comes at a high emotional cost and my first child.

So I just received an email saying I'm put on reserve.
Just to confirm, is reserve Columbia's waitlist or is it the ominous hold?

Reserve is the waitlist. It'll say hold if your held.retaking23 wrote:So I just received an email saying I'm put on reserve.

Got the email. Reserved. T14 wait list count at 6. Ugh.

I would say yes. Columbia reserves a crapton of people, so odds aren't great that you're sitting pretty at #1-10 on the top of that stack.gottago wrote:Reserve = worse than "held" = not shot @ Hamilton?
You're into H/Y though! Debt considerations aside, that's an amazing accomplishment, so don't let Columbia dampen that.

I'm really sorry to hear about the reserve wave. The fact that you're posting at all though shows you're kind enough to alert the rest of us, so I hope it's not in poor form to request you specify whether or not you were previously held. It helps everybody else read the tea leaves more clearly.

If none of the people from today's Reserve wave have been put on Hold prior, I wonder if this means that Columbia will address the people that haven't been reached out to first, THEN tackle the Hold pile?? Just a speculation, but it kinda makes sense, I guess. Just agonizing news for Hold people who will have to wait even longer if this is true :/

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
If it has been almost two months and I'm still "pending completion", should I email them and see what the deal is? At this rate, I'm going to be a 2L before they even print and file my application, let alone read it and make a decision

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
