Seriously though, I've been fortunate enough to have met a LOT of 2Ls and 3Ls who are incredibly nice to me and have served as mentors of sorts for the past few months, and I'm a big believer in paying it forward, so if you have any questions next year feel free to ask me (:

Now it's offical. Waitlist. Time to turn on the charm.

This may seem odd, but have you considered retaking in June? NU is nuts about the LSAT. Our gpa is rather close, but they want every little lsat point they can get. Perhaps you can negotiate with them before you register for it "IF I get a 171 (or whatever) will you admit me?" and see what they say.
The worst they can say is that it won't factor into their decision, but it might be worth a shot?
Assuming, of course, you're ready and willing to actually retake it.

I'm playing with that idea.

Does this work with increasing scholarships? Anecdotal stories highly preferred. Currently deciding whether or not I should put myself through another couple months of hellish LSAT suffering + living like a bum for a year working some deadbeat job whilst getting dumber by the second in order to wait for next cycle.

Fwiw, last cycle I was rejected from nu with 3.76/169.

I took a yr off, scored 173, and got a promotion at work. This yr they gave me 150k. If you know you can do better, don't hesitate.

Just dress normally!!! Don't wear a suit haha, and if you want to do bus cas that's okay but seriously most people will be dressed casually. As for the actual event, expect AWESOMENESS and FUNTIMES.

And make sure to go see Wigmore Follies! It's a GREAT show and there are some fantastic people starring in it. AND usually there's a drinking event with current students after Follies ends.

I'm sure the answer to my question is somewhere within this thread, but I did use the search function and didn't see as much as I suspect has been discussed here...Is anyone able to enlighten me on what they've heard about NU's responsiveness to scholarship negotiation? First, is it recommended if you are not satisfied with you award? And second, do they like you to just write an email, or actually attach PDFs of other scholarship offers? (Anything you may have heard about this at an ASW would be appreciated, as I can't attend). Finally, anyone know the email address this type of correspondence should be sent to? Thanks!

I don't know if someone else has responded to this already, but NU is DEFINITELY definitely open to negotiation. I have friends who SIGNIFICANTLY upped their scholarships by bringing competing scholarships from schools like Columbia or UChicago to the table. It's always better to send an email with the actual competing scholarship attached as a PDF, that way they don't have to waste time asking you for it first. When I negotiated, I sent my email to Johann and Jill (Dean of Admissions and Director of Admissions & Financial Aid, respectively).

I don't know the answer to this, and i'm hoping hold is better since that's where i'm at, but I would prefer to be held at this point rather than on the waitlist. Held applicants still have a shot at getting accepted whereas those on the WL won't hear for a while. I also read somewhere on here that last year not many held applicants got rejected. So hopefully, assuming you've shown your interest to the admissions committee, the worst that will happen is being waitlisted and grouped with that pool.

Again, i'm just hoping that none of us will be rejected, especially after writing those essays.

Just visited and took a tour of the campus with an Admissions rep - I LOVED the school. Definitely going to go here if I don't get in anywhere else. The location is unbeatable, and the students I met all seemed to really enjoy NU.
