Toothbrush, how did you come up with ~70? Does "~" mean less than? I always thought TLS/LSN represented 1/3 of the overall applicants. Though maybe LSN is more representative than TLS...

Anyone willing to speculate on what this batch of acceptances means? It seems like there were a significant amount of admits under both medians. I wonder if this is a good or bad sign for the rest of us.

Also, I'm surprised they nixed phone calls completely. Unless those admitted are going to be receiving phone calls shortly.

I'll explain my logic.

Last year the HLS WL was about 1/7th the total waitlist. I used that same figure for my nyu conversion. I counted rougly 7-10 people on TLS who said they were UR post WL so I went 10x7 ( I rounded up on every figure to cover my ass ) and said ~70 (up to 70).

It's probably less.

I have no idea what it means. I mentioned before that MOST of the WL -> accepts seem weird to me. For instance, there is a 16x 3.7x. Below both medians. Makes no sense.

Oh well.

They probably have their number targets secure. I think this bodes well for people with strong softs if they continue to pull off the WL.

They probably have their number targets secure. I think this bodes well for people with strong softs if they continue to pull off the WL.

or the drop in applicants are hitting them hard. pulling below medians because they are numbers secure makes little sense when its early may. their entire 'deposited class' may change depending on HYSCC WL admits and lower T-14s schollys.

Yeah, I mean that's true. However, there are people with good numbers who prolly have good softs. I didn't see anyone in this batch with good numbers. That's odd to me.

and it says that my application has been started today (for finaid). Who knows if it will only be loans, but looks like the ball is moving already.

imo do so only if you have not impressed upon nyu adcoms you would 100% fucking attend.

that's what's bothering me. i think its clear in my LOCI, but i didnt use any really strong terms like "100%" or "absolutely".

I just got my admit call. I submitted my financial aid form earlier today and will keep you all posted on what I hear back. I doubt I will get need based aid as I have not qualified for it at any other school, but I will try to push for non need based aid.

For what it's worth, my stats are 3.57 170 and I did not submit a LOCI. I did say NYU was my first choice in my response to the initial waitlist email. My wording is basically what the previous poster just said.
