Still on hold. Honestly just waiting to see if I can get off the hold decision. For some reason, Illinois, Vandy, and WUSTL take their sweet time on decisions

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
Talked with admissions again after I withdrew and am going to reconsider WUSTL over the weekend. Not that it's necessarily a deciding factor or anything, but fit is a concern...and this thread is somewhat concerning.
Any individual thing mentioned and I could totally write it off as an isolated incident/1-2 bad apples kind of thing that I'm sure happens at a lot of schools...but that full list is kind of shocking. Am I reading too much into something meant as exam stress venting? Is it limited to this one class, and no reason to think the next WUSTL class would have similar issues? Or is there something about WUSTL that attracts/encourages this kind of underhanded mentality? For the awesome current students on here, is the asshole 10% of the class tainting your experience in any meaningful way, or would you still choose WUSTL knowing you'd have some class members like that?PourMeTea wrote:friendly reminder that if you are matriculating here, it's super easy to get accommodations for extra time on exams even if you don't actually need it! http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=247101

I'd imagine they just got unlucky. The 2Ls and 3Ls don't have that issue. Are we really that bad of a group where you think that would happen next year?

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
It is tainting it slightly for me to be honest, but I wouldn't let it effect your decision. It seems to be just our class and the two classes above us seem to be fine. You could easily go somewhere else trying to avoid this type of thing and your class there be terrible next year. The only concern I have is incoming students taking cues from the terrible people and following suit, but that seems unlikely. If you've visited and liked the atmosphere, i wouldn't factor it in to your decision.golden44 wrote:Talked with admissions again after I withdrew and am going to reconsider WUSTL over the weekend. Lol well judging by TLS, I thought our class would be pretty chill, so I wouldn't go by that. All the people that I know of that are TLS regulars from our class are cool. Granted that's like 5 people.KMart wrote:I'd imagine they just got unlucky. The 2Ls and 3Ls don't have that issue. Are we really that bad of a group where you think that would happen next year?

Haha good point. Although at ASW everyone seemed tolerable and nice.LET'S GET IT wrote:Lol well judging by TLS, I thought our class would be pretty chill, so I wouldn't go by that. Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
Haha not at all! If the only people attending were the group from this board, I wouldn't have asked. However, I would venture it also did not seem apparent from last year's applicant thread that anything like what was mentioned would go down...so not out of the question that some non-tls assholes could be in our class as well, regardless of how awesome all of us are
Which is why I'm honestly wondering how much of an impact it has had on current students or if that thread is partly just venting about the worst few during a really stressful time.
Thanks for pointing out about the 2L/3L classes, very good point and definitely helps alleviate some concerns.
So are you for sure committed to WUSTL now? Congrats if so!
FWIW, I still think it's a great school or it wouldn't be such a difficult decision. Just happened to read all that right before needing to make my final choice this weekend and looking for any additional insight I can get. Especially, since I wasn't able to do ASW or meet any current students in person. Either way, lots of other things higher on the list, so unlikely to be the deciding factor.

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
I can honestly say this past year has been the most miserable year of my entire life in every way possible- not because of the faculty, I think they're first-class. The courses themselves are great. I think what happened in the 1L class is a one-off occurrence, but it has tainted my experience such that I intend to transfer. Some of the people here have done despicable things, but you'll find that pretty much anywhere you go. There just happens to be a very sad concentration at WUSTL. Next, I think that the school's ranking fosters some sort of desperate competition. Everyone is acutely aware that WUSTL is not a t14, so it's harder to get the best outcomes, and that is a huge factor in the sort of behavior you might see here. Plenty of people are perfectly happy here, so don't consider my view to be the norm.golden44 wrote:Talked with admissions again after I withdrew and am going to reconsider WUSTL over the weekend. I think the 1L class just got lucky. I'm a 3L, and I didn't know about any of this stuff until I saw the thread. I don't think that stuff happened to the 2Ls / 3Ls. I wouldn't worry about it - and it all sounds like stuff that could happen anywhere.

This thread is progressively going down hill.
Can anyone recommend great housing options? Hopefully a nice building with amenities and walking distance from campus.

I mean, law school isn't all sunshine and rainbows, you should appreciate being able to see such a frank discussion about the school.tkim88 wrote:This thread is progressively going down hill.

KMart, I really thought you couldn't save that one, but you did. Kudos

I'm relying on you all to make an outstanding group next year. If I hear some of this shit happening again, I'll be deeply disappointed.
---
So sorry you had such a bad experience, T. That's so fucking terrible.
