High lsat and gpa still correlate with success in law school. I have very low numbers and waitlists favor those who have great numbers. So don't worry. I'm the one who is concerned.JSWright101 wrote:I hate this. I would apply next cycle if I were you. You're likely to get far more $$$ and you stand a better chance of acceptance at most schools, especially if you submit in September.

That's what I'm thinking - I did submit in Fall, but February LSAT changed outlook for me.drawstring wrote:I would apply next cycle if I were you. You're likely to get far more $$$ and you stand a better chance of acceptance at most schools, especially if you submit in September.

I was Columbia early decision btw, so I've been doing this little waiting game since November.corporatebarbarian wrote:That's what I'm thinking - I did submit in Fall, but February LSAT changed outlook for me.drawstring wrote:I would apply next cycle if I were you. Given that your game-changing score came back so late I'm not sure how much you benefitted by applying early. Your stats are nearly perfect, and I don't think you should be settling for anything other than $$$$ or HYS.corporatebarbarian wrote:That's what I'm thinking - I did submit in Fall, but February LSAT changed outlook for me.drawstring wrote:I would apply next cycle if I were you. It was actually the deferral to regular admissions around new year that prompted me to sit the test again. It was quite a rash decision.drawstring wrote:Given that your game-changing score came back so late I'm not sure how much you benefitted by applying early. I'm curious. Does one have to submit new essays if reapplying? Schools will keep your file for at least a year I would think, and not writing a new essay could be interpreted as blaming the school for the previous cycle.

This is a concern I had after reapplying to mutliple schools last cycle and this current one. First I disagree with the blaimg the school comment thats very off in my opinion. But from speaking with admissions officers I've found that they suggest to improve your PS and essays in any way that you can between the last time you applied. For me I found that I had a solid PS but I was still able to make small edits that made it even better. I also included an addendum on what I had been doing since the last time I applied. Most that I talked to said to improve what you believe to be the weakest aspect of your application but that leaving everything the same isn't to your advantage. I found it to be great advice.

Reading the past 5 or so pages has given me solace knowing that others are suffering as well.
Like a couple others I would improve both medians and have a serious interest in going to Columbia and so its painful to try and figure out what to do... deposit deadlines looming... ever... closer...
Stay strong my brothers for soon we will taste the sweet nectar of certainty.

That sounds like solid advice. An applicant presumably has half a year or so to improve his or her submissions, so tweaking and polishing further can only help. With the addendum used as a status update, I think the application would be fresh enough to warrant a new look.W$RKliveWELL wrote:checkers wrote:I'm curious. So tomorrow's the day right? They'll be back from ASD and will hit the 'send' button on the massive waitlist email right as they head out for the weekend.

Oh most dark and mysterious AdComm's, we humbly beseech thee to cast thy gaze upon us, and bestow thy debt-laden blessings upon we unworthy scum, who grovel here only to praise thee; mayhap catch a glimpse of thy awesome countenance.
Maybe that will work.

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Hmmm, guys I am so confused right now.
Let me start by saying that I do NOT have Columbia numbers. I am below both medians (165/3.5X) but Columbia threw me a waiver back in December so I thought, "What the hell! I'll apply." Since then, I have decided to sit a year out and re-take the LSAT so that I might actually be able to apply to schools like Columbia with decent numbers (or with a decent LSAT, at least). Because I made that decision, even though I had already sent off a few apps, I made myself forget the possibility of even getting accepted anywhere this cycle.
Fast forward to today... I remembered that I applied at Columbia and never heard anything back (not that I am expecting to get accepted or even waitlisted, but I had anticipated a rejection letter at some point). Well, I remembered that Columbia likes snail mail letters and my mailbox got taken out by a car in an unfortunate accident involving icy roads back in February and my mail got returned for a couple weeks until I was able to get it fixed. I emailed Columbia just to confirm that they had sent a reject letter that must have been returned (I mean, a 165 isn't getting in, right?) and I got a nice little message back that a decision has not yet been made on my file, and that I can request a final decision by email when it becomes available (although they cannot always guarantee that decisions are able to be sent electronically).
So... huh? Is 165 the new 170? Or is Columbia trolling me hard by not rejecting me outright?

You're not being trolled. You still have a slim chance.inlovewithpiper wrote:Hmmm, guys I am so confused right now.

Out of all the days of the week, I think Fridays typically have the best chance for some sort of movement. I can't say if tomorrow will be good or bad, but the combination of the clock ticking (15 days) the fact that ASD is over, and that it's a Friday, I think we can expect something.gbelle wrote:Checkers!!!
