This process really makes me appreciate other admissions offices that are super transparent. (Looking at you, Dean Z)

I waited 4-5 days at the least for all my other acceptances, so I am not the least bit surprised (considering several of my Sept. apps are still pending). I think it would have been painless if not for the TLS-induced anticipation.arism87 wrote:This process really makes me appreciate other admissions offices that are super transparent. Haha agreed. But there are way too many people with great numbers who haven't heard anything yet, so I'm far from freaking out here.jdstl wrote:Same. It will come. It will come.timmna wrote:Nothing again in the Midwest. It makes me sad.

I still don't get it - what is a GULC packet? What does that stand for?jtemp320 wrote:No VCE and no GULC packet today in LA....I have to stop waiting...going to try to take a sanity break from this thread for a week or until I have news to report...good luck to you all!!!
FWIW, New York mail is really screwed up (I know that's not really news). I finally got the purple envelope today in Chicago that supposedly went out on 1/21. It was postmarked twice: 71 cents on 1/22 and 0 cents on 1/24. So whatever that means...

I think the NYU thing (mine was the same) is because they sent it out from the admissions office on the 21st, such that it arrived at the university mailroom in time to be stamped and postage-paid on the 22nd, but wasn't actually transmitted to USPS until the next working day, which was the 24th, when it was dated again. So that's the "real" mailing date.

People know it was sent on a certain date, and are using it to gauge mail delivery times.ahduth wrote:What the hell does that have to do with Columbia?

everything. Recent Gtown packets were apparently postmarked 1/24 and 1/25, the same postmark dates as Columbia's acceptance letters. It's being used as a benchmark for hope.

Re: Columbia 2011!
It was presumably sent out on 01/25. The Columbia acceptances were sent out on 01/24. If you haven't received the GULC packet, perhaps it indicates that mail is taking longer to reach you, rather than say, Columbia not mailing you an acceptance packet. If you have received a GULC packet, then perhaps your mail is working fine, and if Columbia had mailed you an acceptance, you should have gotten it by now, possibly indicating that you are not going to be receiving an acceptance package.ahduth wrote:What the hell does that have to do with Columbia?

I... see. You all kept chirping on about GULC, and ruled out Georgetown, but then I couldn't figure out what you'd be talking about.somewhere wrote:People know it was sent on a certain date, and are using it to gauge mail delivery times.ahduth wrote:What the hell does that have to do with Columbia?
If you're trying to figure out when you're going to get stuff from Columbia based on when you get stuff from Georgetown... you all need to chill out. I recommend a brandy alexander:

Re: Columbia 2011!
Finally a text reply from my mother (about the appearance of a VCE in today's mail):
No, just Cornell. Which frankly most people would give their eye teeth for.
Thanks mom, way to keep me humble. Jeez.

Haha, my parents have funny responses. Whenever I tell them I got into an east coast school they say some variation of "it's cold as shit out there." And when I got NYU my dad said "that's a good school...except for all the new yorkers"NikaneOkie wrote:My father's response to absolutely everything:whathojeeves wrote:Finally a text reply from my mother (about the appearance of a VCE in today's mail):
