Thanks ariadne.

I was thinking YP too, but then I remembered that CLS apparently doesn't YP, just holds applicants who might lower their yield if accepted outright. Maybe they already filled their class...

Could also be that the individual reported the hold as a waitlist.

true....but he must be really smart if he got a 179, wouldn't he know the difference?

Not everyone goes on TLS/care to differentiate.
If I had a 179 LSAT, a hold from Columbia is a pseudo-waitlist to me.

I think he'd probably get in if it really was a hold and he wrote them saying they were his first choice. Then again, I doubt he cares considering all his other awesome acceptances.

But I admit...I also didn't realize what lawrapist sounded like until Sogui pointed it out.
I'm surprised this many people haven't seen Arrested Development. Greatest comedy of all time.
It's going to be my only comfort, running Arrested Development in the background while I study. I still haven't found another show that comes close.
And I think the movie's coming out when we're 2Ls.
Don't presume we're all going to law school.
Also, that we will not drop out after 1L.

It would be great to be able to go to class with so many people who actually enjoy AD. Too few people out there know about it... which I guess is why it got canceled in the first place.
Tobias Fünke: [as Mrs. Featherbottom] Okay, who'd like a banger in the mouth?
Tobias Fünke: Right, I forgot, here in the States, you call it a *sausage* in the mouth.
Michael: We just call it a sausage.

Tobias as Mrs. Featherbottom might be my favorite character in any show. "Oh, I keep forgetting we're in the colonies!"

Much to my surprise, I received a letter today indicating that I have been placed in Columbia's "Reserve" group.
Is this a fancy term for the Wait List, or is there a fundamental distinction between the two? Which is preferable?
Many thanks for your advice.

I received the same letter. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as waitlist except that its not ranked, only reevaluated in a few months.

Got the 'Reserve' letter from Columbia yesterday ... also on 'Hold' at Harvard and 'waitlisted' at Chicago...lol, I love how my application is seemingly on a razors edge...
although I guess my discomfort was eased by being accepted to Boalt yesterday!

I was looking for photos of Morningside Heights, and randomly came across this:
"The Bloomingdale Insane Asylum was a private hospital for the care of the mentally ill founded by New
York Hospital. It occupied the land in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan where Columbia University is now located"
Was anyone else aware of this? I got a good laugh thinking about all the 1L's "going insane" during finals week every semester at Columbia.

Got my acceptance in the mail today. Letter dated 2/15, and I went complete on 1/21. Good luck everyone.

Got another BIG BLUE BOX from Columbia today... didn't see this one coming.
It was a slide-out container with all of CLS's major publications included, really impressive looking.
That makes 2 really impressive packages from Columbia along with the informative acceptance folder and the "inside New York 2010" guide.

Accepted today!
Didn't receive a big blue box. My letter came in a khaki/strange-colored large envelope with my acceptance letter and a folder with info about housing, ASW, etc.

Congrats! I got my acceptance packet yesterday and I got the same thing you got. Maybe the blue box comes later?
Are you going to ASW? If so, which one?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
