Man I've got my NYU LOCI ready for what I'm guessing is an impending waitlist, but I'm wondering if sending it right now would better favor my app. I guess I'll wait, otherwise I won't have anything to send after being put waitlist. I just want this madness to be over.

Apologies for super delayed response to this-- I applied everywhere mid-November! The only school I'm waiting on besides NYU is Stanford (lol)SybillAnnDorsett wrote:To have a JS2, Chicago and even Penn acceptances and not have heard from NYU is just crazy to me. chimera, when did you apply?bleakchimera2 wrote:I'm at one 75th and above the other and I've heard nothing (besides the fake RSVP invite). MyLSN has me at 100%, so either my app is historically bad or they still have some to go. I'm in at other schools so I think it's the latter, but who knows. I tend to think that LSN is biased towards success stories due to response bias.jjcorvino wrote:19 acceptances, 1 waitlist for me. 95%. That's a 92% acceptance rate. I felt pretty good about that.
But here it is in April and I'm still waiting at UR1. Maybe I just suck, but this seems weird.

Definitely possible, but I don't think it would be a huge difference.Po$eidon wrote:I tend to think that LSN is biased towards success stories due to response bias.jjcorvino wrote:19 acceptances, 1 waitlist for me. 95%. With a small enough sample (which it is) the numbers could be rapidly skewedjjcorvino wrote:Definitely possible, but I don't think it would be a huge difference.Po$eidon wrote:I tend to think that LSN is biased towards success stories due to response bias.jjcorvino wrote:19 acceptances, 1 waitlist for me. 95%. Yeah, it can. I am just saying I don't think that the bias is that significant.Po$eidon wrote:With a small enough sample (which it is) the numbers could be rapidly skewedjjcorvino wrote:Definitely possible, but I don't think it would be a huge difference.Po$eidon wrote:I tend to think that LSN is biased towards success stories due to response bias.jjcorvino wrote:19 acceptances, 1 waitlist for me. 95%. I sent in a brief - hey I'm interested and I have a new academic publication - in February. They said they'd add it to my file, and haven't had any movement since. UR - 11/16, UR2 - 1/9. I would just wait in case you do get WL. I kind of wish I did, because now I don't have any new newsInstrumental wrote:Man I've got my NYU LOCI ready for what I'm guessing is an impending waitlist, but I'm wondering if sending it right now would better favor my app. I guess I'll wait, otherwise I won't have anything to send after being put waitlist. This is soooo painful. GPA & LSAT both > 75th and still haven't heard anything. They said they are busy with admission season and events, but my anxiety has become my full time job! Two more weeks and I'm working overtime!

Ditto !! (to the anxiety, not the amazing stats - i wish!) I think I have aged 30 years in these past few months, and I have also fully adopted the bitterness that comes with old age as well. I'm simultaneously ready to give up on them completely yet also DYING for any semblance of communication from them...McMooch wrote:This is soooo painful. Do they have different members in the adcom committee? I wonder why they are so different from past years...or just changed their policy?

Committed to UCLA last night. Not sure if I should wait it out to see what happens at NYU or just withdraw before getting a decision

Pretty sure all of us waiting would like you to withdraw to make room for someone who isn't committed elsewhere.Sadnessandmisfortune wrote:Committed to UCLA last night. Not sure if I should wait it out to see what happens at NYU or just withdraw before getting a decision

Well I sympathize (read: agree 100%) with Jess here, but I will ask to give you the benefit of the doubt - would you really attend NYU, at sticker, if they took you off of the waitlist? Do you feel it will be as good if not better a fit for you than UCLA?jessmeesh wrote:Pretty sure all of us waiting would like you to withdraw to make room for someone who isn't committed elsewhere.Sadnessandmisfortune wrote:Committed to UCLA last night. if so, well, you might as well wait it out for a decision and work from there (assuming they WL and don't ding you).

I took committed to mean that there is no longer an option to attended NYU if admitted. If he could still attend, then yeah, ride it out if you think it's likely you would attend. If you're just collecting acceptances for the heck of it (I know a few people doing this) then withdraw for the sake of the rest of us.

I put down a first deposit. So in theory I can still eat my deposit and attend NYU still. I haven't decided if I'd attend at sticker; I'm trying to figure that out by the end of this weekjessmeesh wrote:SybillAnnDorsett wrote:Well I sympathize (read: agree 100%) with Jess here, but I will ask to give you the benefit of the doubt - would you really attend NYU, at sticker, if they took you off of the waitlist? At this point I'd probably prefer a waitlist to buy me more time to consider if I want to pay near sticker.charles117 wrote:dont leave us hanging nyu, deposit deadline are coming up
