Thanks, I appreciate it.luxurylawyer wrote:Well, I'm rooting for you my friend. You've clearly worked your ass off so far. It will pay you back in spades.Danny Boyo wrote: You're probably right. I'm a natururalized American and English is not my first language (which sucked for the LSAT). Immigranting is hard man.
Then I had a significant back injury which harmed my GPA and some other stuff too. Nothing too bad like some of the Vetereans may had while serving, just my own cross to bear.
But then I think, gee, I'm an immigrant with a shot of getting into one of the most prestigious law schools in the richest country on the planet, to me that is remarkable. Got to love the USofA.

Really excited... Need to get my fin aid essays done ASAP and try to figure out if I can visit. I love NU but have some approaching deadlines from other schools that will make it tough to get my fin aid decision before I have to decide on other schools. So happy though!
Congrats, best of luck to you risa!

This is as bad as NU's public service emails when everyone was waiting on scholarships... I hope they come through for you! No panic attacks along the way pleaseluxurylawyer wrote:...And I just received an email saying that my "official decision is not ready yet [...] Please give it another one and a half." I got the error message too. Anyone have any luck emailing admissions, or should we just wait for IT to sort it out?

The original panic has subsided after the held email. I'm strangely calm now, likely because I'm expecting the waitlist email (that would explain why they are having the errors). However, I'm holding out hope for the phantom admission!Scarlett66 wrote:This is as bad as NU's public service emails when everyone was waiting on scholarships... I hope they come through for you! Wait it out, they said... Just a little longer, they promised... Easier said than done, NU Admissions office. This is an awful lot of stress to be had over a probable waitlist/rejection.luxurylawyer wrote:Hold it out for now. Wait for them to email you. This may seem odd, but have you considered retaking in June? NU is nuts about the LSAT. Our gpa is rather close, but they want every little lsat point they can get. Perhaps you can negotiate with them before you register for it "IF I get a 171 (or whatever) will you admit me?" and see what they say.luxurylawyer wrote:Now it's offical. Waitlist. The worst they can say is that it won't factor into their decision, but it might be worth a shot?
Assuming, of course, you're ready and willing to actually retake it.

So when are people giving up on hoping for a scholarship?

Well, tbh no one should give up hope until well after April 12th. A lot of people, especially with small schollies, will not commit by that deadline and the money will go back in the pool. Even if you missed out this round (which seems near or at it's end?) you might get something after withdrawals.demarco5 wrote:So when are people giving up on hoping for a scholarship?

I caught the waitlist, a little disappointed, thats what I get for trying to sneak a late app in tho. I'll be reapplying next year if I don't get called up.

Alright, here's the ultimate question for all of us without the full $150k.
Is the best time to negotiate scholarships before or after the April 12 deadline? I'll drop multiple deposits if I have to.

I out performed my numbers I think, so asking for more money would be churlish I think. It's a lovely thought thoughTripTrip wrote:Alright, here's the ultimate question for all of us without the full $150k.

Wow, I really didn't think I had a chance at Northwestern, and now I'm on their waitlist. Is an expensive visit to Chicago going to significantly improve my chances? I'm going to be pretty tight on funds with seat deposits coming up.

Same. Even though I gave the advice constantly to negotiate earlier in this thread, seeing as my biggest weapon is 18k from Mich and I am already EXTREMELY grateful for their offer, it would seem in bad taste.Scarlett66 wrote:I out performed my numbers I think, so asking for more money would be churlish I think. To answer the question though, if you have the ammo to negotiate now, do it.
