no... norcal weather is in general very sunny. for the four years i was there, the only month where rain was actually a problem was march. but it was HELLA bad. but for the most part, it's just as sunny as socal but a few degrees cooler (which i actually prefer). but norcal looks the best in my opinion during summer/fall. there is something called an indian summer where it gets hot as helll in october. norcal and socal are both amazing. i've never lived in somewhere where it snows... and if norcal doesn't get cold enough to snow, i can't imagine how terrible it must be when it's that cold.

That's true of San Francisco, not Palo Alto. There's a point right around Daly City as you're heading south on 280 where the mountains along the coast get tall enough to block the fog rolling in from the Pacific, and everything south of there is usually cloudless and warm. Bay Area weather is a lot more inconsistent than other parts of the country (you might get a weird, random cold and cloudy week in May, or it might hit 75 in January), but on the whole it is considerably warmer and sunnier than places with real seasons. I'm from MN originally and I can tell you the idea that Stanford weather is not vastly different from Cambridge/east-coast weather is insane.tkgrrett wrote:I probably had unrealistic expectations since I have only heard about the excellent weather in the area and never actually visited. From the weather data I have looked at it is a lot less sunny than I expected and a lot less warm. For me, the difference between mid to low 50s and low 40s doesnt mean that much because at that point Im wearing a coat everywhere anyway. Im the type of person who prefers low 80s and sunlight to low 60s (Im from the south).fish52 wrote:Really? Maybe this week, but the Bay Area has been above 50 all winter while DC and up spent all winter in the 30s and 40s. That's a huge difference. Sure, the Bay Area is colder this week than the mid-Atlantic, but that's definitely not normal. Berkeley feels excellent today.tkgrrett wrote:Ive been tracking SLS/UC-Berkeley weather vs. Cambidge/My current location and I must say that bay area weather is VASTLY overrated.
ETA: Though my tone may change when Im sitting in a black suit and experiencing 101 degree weather/humidity in DC this summer.

Did someone say that this year's ASW is a week early? Then this day last year or the year before was a week before ASW, so really not good data points to use...mcweanis wrote:i see six acceptances after this day last year on lsn, the year before eleven, some off the waitlist some not

ASW starts tomorrow for Stanford. She could call, but almost zero possibility as they will be preparing for events later in the day.inandout1 wrote:is it possible she would call tmrw when tmrw is ASW? or is it not ASW until Sunday... wait.. when is ASW?

I just hope that as Dean Deal is wining and dining the admits, staffers are still working on sending out my inevitable WL/rejection.

JR made admit calls on Monday, March 7, when Harvard's ASW was still going on. I know he and Dean Deal aren't the same person, but just saying she can probably step out and make calls if she needs to.

Re: Stanford Law School 2011 Applicants (Pics)
I just mailed my $500 seat deposit and a one year deferment request to SLS, so if it is approved, that opens up one seat that admissions previously thought was taken. I emailed Dean Deal earlier this week to let her know I planned to do that, so hopefully that means they are making decisions this week and next with that knowledge. Good luck to all of you guys! I have my fingers crossed for all of you. I mostly lurk on here, but reading y'all's posts was a big part of preserving my sanity this cycle.

I'm still pending (UR 1/19). And you should feel grateful--at least you've heard from Yale! I'm just hanging around here, waiting for anything from either school...mcweanis wrote:is the spreadsheet of people who still havent heard anything up to date? that is - who besides me is still pending and whyyyy?

I'm one of them. What would y'all think of attending a school after not being invited/not attending their ASW?r6_philly wrote:There are >10 people still pending at Berkeley ASW.juliachild-ish wrote:I'm still pending (UR 1/19). Still waiting here too UR early october. To your question- depends on the school, if it's your dream school then heck I think it's worth going even if they accept you in august (hint hint StanfordBackToTheOldHouse wrote: I'm one of them. We decided at ASW that knock and cardinal should out themselves to Dean Deal to improve their chances.
=)
I heard also that a few spots still remain pre-WL.
