I'm at one 75th and above the other and I've heard nothing (besides the fake RSVP invite). MyLSN has me at 100%, so either my app is historically bad or they still have some to go. I'm in at other schools so I think it's the latter, but who knows. Keep the faith!treetops_rising wrote:I have a 169 and they are still ghosting me -.-

They may still have some to go, but I don't really get what their admissions strategy is this cycle?bleakchimera2 wrote:I'm at one 75th and above the other and I've heard nothing (besides the fake RSVP invite). Wait too long into April to finish admitting historically admittable candidates, and those candidates will all have committed other places or have withdrawn from frustration. That can't leave you as competitive as if you had just been timely and not toyed around with well-qualified applicants in the first place.

To have a JS2, Chicago and even Penn acceptances and not have heard from NYU is just crazy to me. chimera, when did you apply?bleakchimera2 wrote:I'm at one 75th and above the other and I've heard nothing (besides the fake RSVP invite). Perhaps their thinking is that those folks couldn't have been counted on to commit. OTH, those willing to wait around for a decision may be way more likely to do so.speedofthought wrote:They may still have some to go, but I don't really get what their admissions strategy is this cycle?bleakchimera2 wrote:I'm at one 75th and above the other and I've heard nothing (besides the fake RSVP invite). Damnit. Of course the schools I want off the waitlist for are going to make me wait forever.TexasENG wrote:May 1stSybillAnnDorsett wrote:does anyone know seat deposit deadline?

Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
According to mysln, in the whole history of LSN there have been 38 folks with my LSAT and almost exactly my GPA. 35 were straight up accepted, 2 were waitlisted, and 1 was rejected. That's a 92% acceptance rate. I felt pretty good about that.
But here it is in April and I'm still waiting at UR1. Maybe I just suck, but this seems weird.

Considering you are one of many in this boat, I doubt it has to do with personal suckage. However, even if we are a collective big pile of suck, NYU's yield this year will suck more.enoca wrote:According to mysln, in the whole history of LSN there have been 38 folks with my LSAT and almost exactly my GPA. 35 were straight up accepted, 2 were waitlisted, and 1 was rejected. 19 acceptances, 1 waitlist for me. 95%. Not quite as good as you, but NYU from the past few years puts my chances at like 80% and yet I get the silent treatment. Then again, many other schools with close historical chances if not greater have waitlisted me.enoca wrote:According to mysln, in the whole history of LSN there have been 38 folks with my LSAT and almost exactly my GPA. 35 were straight up accepted, 2 were waitlisted, and 1 was rejected. I might suck too... but then there are others in a similar boat at NYU and the T13 in general. In a year when high LSAT scorers are drastically down at that. I'm biased obviously, but something in general seems ridiculously messed up this cycle. As in there aren't enough high LSAT scorers to go around the whole T13 and yet look at all the surprising waitlists and ghosting.
I'm betting (with the average T13 applicant doing what, blanketing most of the T13?) that a relatively limited group of really strong applicants are holding a collection of acceptances or are something schools are wary of given the LSAT drops and that yield in general is going to be unpredictably bad this year. And again, NYU are known for taking many people off their waitlist in a normal year. This year? I guess many of us just have delayed acceptances... eventually... hopefully.

Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I've talked to a handful of folks in the admissions business and they believe it's some version of this. With the drop in top scores, schools like HYS are having to dip a little further down in the LSAT scores. This, they're guessing, has led to a domino effect as HYS have been making offers to folks in the CCN range, leaving CCN in limbo as they try to figure out who's left for them.Nightwing wrote:Not quite as good as you, but NYU from the past few years puts my chances at like 80% and yet I get the silent treatment. The tragic clusterfuck of this whole thing is that we may be caught in the middle of a standoff. CCN is waiting for HYS to make moves and HYS is waiting for applicants to make decisions, those applicants were expecting to go to CCN and are waiting to see if CCN offers them a big payday and so are holding off on answering HYS.
I repeat, clusterfuck.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
