Ok! So, here's a weird one! Still no VCE... HOWEVER, the mailman just rang the door and handed me the Columbia Admitted Students binder... what!? So... in!? It doesn't even actually have my name in the binder itself just 'Dear Admitted Student.' But, the envelope is definitely addressed to me, so I'm going with in!

Unless, this is supposed to come in a VCE, or some such? I'm confused...

mind if I ask what the post mark date is on the Binder envelope?

The plot thickens! There is NO postmark date on the binder envelope, simply a Priority Mail sticker. My name and address is printed in the center. And yes, it is an actual three ring binder.

I'm going to check the mail again in a little bit, just in case the postman wasn't done earlier. If there's still no VCE, I'll give admissions a call!

But that's the postmark date, not the letter date. I'm assuming the letter was dated 1/24?

You guys do realize that Columbia admitted more than 1200 people last year, and that most of the LSN decisions came during the same period. That is a ton of letters to send out, somehow it doesn't surprise me that they didn't drop 800 letters in the mail on one day.

The letter was dated Jan 24th, btw, so it looks like multiple mailings for this round!

No vce again today. Maybe I'm getting frustrated a little too early, but when you apply in mid-sept, have numbers better than a lot of admits so far, live not far from the city, and keep coming back to an empty mailbox... blahhhhh.

I gotta get outta this thread for a while. Will come back only if I get vomit.

Yeah I haven't gotten any VCE yet, either. Also, I haven't gotten any mail AT ALL since Tuesday, so wtf???

Also, this was my 100th post and I was hoping to save it for a VCE (I hadn't posted in 2 whole days!!!). Ah, well.

The only schollys beside this went out via e-mail, right? This could lend some weight to a theory where (since disproportionately few high numbers have been admitted so far) the scholarship committee is sending out its envelopes in a different batch from the regular committee.

Yargh. This actually sounds fairly plausible, in which case all of the borderline acceptances may already be out. Good news for you high index candidates though.
