Does anyone else think it's uncanny that 154+ capable TLSers haven't heard back yet?

The poll results for number of people on TLS that have been ghosted is pretty shocking.2000andBeyond wrote:Does anyone else think it's uncanny that 154+ capable TLSers haven't heard back yet?

Almost exactly six months ago, I swore I would never be the chump still posting on the applicant thread in April.
I'm still here. Still a chump.

I also feel like a middle school girl in unrequited love who, despite the other person's efforts to ignore me and show no signs of interest whatsoever, still continues to love them and beg for their attention.

also - i feel like there's no way TLS people are the only ones still waiting on NYU. At the Admitted Students events I've gone to for other schools (all T10 to give some perspective on the crowds stats), when people mention their NYU apps, without fail like at least 80% of them still haven't heard back from them. and there's no way all of them have TLS accounts and frequent this feed lol. right!? they've got to admit more people right!? i'm going crazy guys...

Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Idk maybe they are trying to improve their yield this year. I think historically NYU has accepted more students than a lot of T14s and has had a fairly low yield rate.ktgjoon wrote:also - i feel like there's no way TLS people are the only ones still waiting on NYU. Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I'm fairly confident that NYU has a huge amount of admits to make (not all through the waitlist), given that they haven't admitted anyone below a 3.4gpa and very few below 168. I say this as an admit, so no crazy neuroticism driving this pseudo-analysis. Best of luck to all!ktgjoon wrote:also - i feel like there's no way TLS people are the only ones still waiting on NYU. Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Its kind of crazy expect yield to be in the low 30s / upper 20s, like what would happen if for some reason their yield just went up 10% one year. They'd be pulling a WashU from a few years ago and trying to get everyone to defer. I figured there would be more fluctuation in class size honestly.SybillAnnDorsett wrote:We need the 2014 class size again.

Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
The last four years have been pretty stable in terms of class size / offers / yield, so I would expect something similar unless they are trying to make moves of some sort. I don't think we really have any reason to believe this year will be very different though.SybillAnnDorsett wrote:So what are u saying lol r we in trouble or notTexasENG wrote:Its kind of crazy expect yield to be in the low 30s / upper 20s, like what would happen if for some reason their yield just went up 10% one year. Well on March 20th, I did count the LSN acceptances/rejects, and around the same time last year, ~ 30 fewer students had been accepted.
Maybe it just means more LSN usage this year?

I could see them shrinking class to hold onto 169.

They also mentioned in their financial prospectus (someone linked it on this thread) that they had a long-term goal of decreasing class size.

Re: NYU c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
They mentioned at ASW that they were very concerned with cost of law school and were making a big push in the future for donations specifically for scholarships. I guess decreasing class size could be a way to increase % of students at NYU that get aid of some sort. I wouldn't really panic though, they traditionally have a lot of WL movement.SybillAnnDorsett wrote:Wonderful.Rigo wrote:I could see them shrinking class to hold onto 169.

I'm just guessing. They have the lowest T6 median and 169's are way down this cycle.SybillAnnDorsett wrote:Wonderful.Rigo wrote:I could see them shrinking class to hold onto 169.

They probably realize they're in a bit of a bind and unsure just how their yield is gonna go since this cycle is kinda wonky, so they're playing wait and see and really drawing out their cycle until they have a clearer idea.

UVA and NYU were definitely the ghosting king and queen at my last ASW
