keyboards have some kind of sticker/sign/sensor that show if the circuitry has gotten wet..which voids the warranty. Solution is to go buy a new keyboard/set of keys online, replace the old keyboard with the new one (so the watermark thingy is untouched), take to Apple store and say it never worked or just stopped working. Boom, they give u new computer.Xs20 wrote:My roommate found this out the hard way. I think they would be able to detect that you removed the old one and put a new one.cusenation wrote:keyboards have some kind of sticker/sign/sensor that show if the circuitry has gotten wet..which voids the warranty. Yeah that was my initial reaction too, but my friend did it and it worked...but he was pretty careful about it? Or maybe that particular employee at the Apple store was too lazy/incompetent to figure it out lolwannabelawstudent wrote:I think they would be able to detect that you removed the old one and put a new one.cusenation wrote: keyboards have some kind of sticker/sign/sensor that show if the circuitry has gotten wet..which voids the warranty. Sears Tower Skydeck and Navy Pier are worth checking out. Definitely shopping on Michigan Ave. Tons of good comedy clubs, I like Second City. Also there's Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Art Institute, Museum of Science & Industry, etc. if you're into any of that.andy261 wrote:Off-topic but I know there're a couple Chicagoans on here.. When was this? In the past year apple took away many of the freedom apple geniuses used to have in making decisions like when to charge money and when to give away stuff. It's much harder to get away with free repairs/free stuff than before. Pretty sad.cusenation wrote:Yeah that was my initial reaction too, but my friend did it and it worked...but he was pretty careful about it? On a side note: do you think an iPad can be used to take notes with in class? With a keyboard that is. My MacBook Air is about to die and I'm wondering if to keep the iPad and use it in school and get a Mac Mini that I can connect to the monitor keyboard and stuff I already have to use at home.

I can't believe I missed page 180.
Also, we're narrowing the gap between us and the main Harvard applicants thread! Scholarships will hopefully give us the lead...

It's better than the 'science its a girl thing' videos.
There's actually an interesting sixty symbols video about why there's such a huge ad campaign to get females into science. I don't remember what it said and I'm too lazy to find it but it made sense and I agreed with it.

FYI, DProduct now has an avatar making fun of a handicapped person. I don't know if this is who we want representing this stellar university.

As for Chicago stuff, I'm not a native Chicagoan, but I am a museum nerd. The Field Museum is amazing. I highly recommend it.

Full suggestions outside of food (and if you're up for walking a lot and just checking out cool places):andy261 wrote:Off-topic but I know there're a couple Chicagoans on here.. I'm going for the first time on Friday. Things to do besides deep dish pizza and the bean?
grant park - for a morning run, there's a 3.1m loop that wraps the shore

millenium park - epitome of frank gehry, BP bridge / pritzker pavilion
--ImageRemoved--
^^ if you're already there, walk a block north to Aqua Tower. trippy

art institute (also close) - renzo piano addition

the rookery - one of the oldest skyscrapers in the US
--ImageRemoved--
hancock / sears towers - skydecks (loop) i prefer hancock

IIT - mies van der rohe, close to chinatown and white sox (red line)

if you're driving: robie house, farnsworth, etc
ok. getting late - that's enough chicago porn for now.
