Absolutely. It can be real culture shock if you're not accustomed to it- I remember driving my mother-in-law around here for the first time and she just kept saying, where do the poor people live? Apparently they're all in Hartford!Burger in a can wrote:I was just messing around. Where I live is VERY rural and I know all about nothing being open after 9.cjr1298 wrote:I lived in Litchfield County up until about two years ago and then we moved down here to be closer to my husband's office- I liked LC, but I had basically lived there on and off my whole life, so this is kind of a nice change. I was also in the more rural section of LC, and that can be, well, rural! Old and rural- mediocre schools, no take-out delivery, and nothing is open after 9 PM. But I'm in the northern FC, we stay clear of most of the snobbery.Burger in a can wrote:If that enclave above NYC (called Fairfield County) fell off into Long Island Sound the rest of us in Connecticut would applaud.
Litchfield County in da HOUSE!!!!![]()
That being said, Fairfield County really is full of terrible bourgeoisie. (Except for awesome people who didn't grow up there and aren't near the coast!)

UCONN will be a better place for it! I think you made the right choice.

Thanks! Yeah I thought I would celebrate by updating my avatar a little. I was thinking about changing my username to Burger in a UConn, but that's a little over the top.DonnyMost wrote:Very cool.Burger in a can wrote:Dean's scholarship came in the mail today. I got an email from one of the deans saying my file is in review and I should have a decision by the end of the week. Im guessing ill have to wait for the decision via snail mail, but at least I know my time is coming sooner than later.
congrats on the sweet scholarship burger.

Pretty sure I am going to withdraw from UConn. Just too expensive compared to other schools.

Are you headed to Wake? Maybe UConn will come up with some money by the end of the week. It is very expensive first year for those that are oos.

Probably. I got a scholarship offer, but it was in-state first year only, which means it's the most expensive school on my list by at least $7K.
Hard to justify UConn at $8K more than Wake.

I agree unless you really want to practice in the Northeast. Still Wake must have a good reputation even there. I hate the regionalness of most law schools. It is hard for many people to know where they will be in the future. The Bar exam should also be a National one with state supplements so that if you move you don't have to take the entire bar exam again.

I really want to be in New England, but I think that Wake is still a better choice. Go there, maybe do a clerkship if I am lucky, get a job, build up a resume, then move up there.

North Carolina is a nice place to live too. I have relatives who have been there for quite awhile. You and your wife will have to take a trip to the Outer Banks during your stay there.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

I stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Manchester. It was nice, and not too far a drive.

Hopefully that means I'll get that email soon. I went complete 2/8. I need to hear back - it's my first choice, but I have deposits due at other schools in a few weeks!moandersen wrote:applied 1/13msbeautifulbasham wrote:when did you send your application and go complete?moandersen wrote:I got an email from one of the deans saying my file is in review and I should have a decision by the end of the week.
