That's why I'm wishing I heard something...I'm in the area so I could go but I'm not admitted yet. My numbers are good, I just applied at the end of the cycle.
Wishing I could sneak in...

What do you mean, waiting another year? If you don't get in, will you go to UCI next year, or are you going to apply all over? I'm trying to decide what to do. I know I can retake the LSAT and bring up my score a few points. I had no time to prepare, plus the testing conditions were horrid. I'm also a URM so I could have a shot at some good schools, I just can't move. If I don't get in this year, I'll reapply to UCI and also to USC/UCLA...I'll go where I get the most $$$.

Submitted in October. Got my E-mail confirmation in November.
Aside from a letter from financial aid saying that I had to submit my birth certificate, and a later email telling me to ignore that letter, I Still haven't heard back.
165/3.6
I'm beginning to loose hope that they'll even acknowledge my application, let alone accept me. Anyone else in the same boat? Should I try calling the admissions office again?

I still believe they are not going to accept more people until after their seat deposit deadline has passed...
I wonder how many people are going to put down a seat deposit...for those of us who have not heard back, the less the better...
And of those who do put down a deposit, how many will withdraw later on if they are admitted to another school?

For the record, there is no money involved in a "seat deposit" for UCI this year, just a Statement of Intent to Register form that must be sent in.
This would seem to be perfect for the type of people you mention, who are in at UCI but WLed other places. They could choose another school and not lose any cash.

What do you think will happen to the seats of people who have been accepted but do not submit an SIR by the deadline? Do they lose their seat?

Well yeah. It's performing the same function as a seat deposit, only (because nobody's paying any tuition) you don't have to send a check along with the form.

Also, someone who sent in their application on 2/24 claimed to be Waitlisted. If that is true, it's the first I've heard mentioned.
Are you sure people on LSN who accepted the UCI offer just didn't delete their LSN accounts?

They really probably should have asked for a $ deposit. Just cuz it's free doesn't mean they can't take a deposit, they'd just have to refund it. It will be trouble if a lot of people submit a SIR because it's free even if they think they probably won't go. Boalt doesn't require deposits either, but they ask people to confirm over multiple periods, and they don't have the uncertainty Irvine faces.

No seat deposits makes it likely that those hoping to get in on the second wave have a long wait ahead...
I think most who are serious about attending UCI are willing to forgo the traditional law school experience.
Do you guys think many of those who are admitted are willing?

Or, are they willing to pay $$ to have the traditional experience?

I'm willing to pay $$ to not have a traditional experience.

Some more action on LSN. Including some waitlists, one with a 167 3.98. Kind of hard to believe.

So.........if I rode this out to the very, very end (I'm talking to July here) do you think a 160, 3.2ish public interest focused (on p.s., diversity statement, resume, etc.) applicant would have a chance of getting in? I seriously doubt it but just wanted your opinions!

I guess that could make sense if the waitlist was comprised of people UCI wants but has no room for until people withdraw.

Someone on TLS went to UCI's info session a while back and said that they would have a waitlist and it would be widely used since they needed to make sure that only 60 students enrolled in the fall. I was starting to wonder what they were waiting for, so it makes sense that they finally started.
