Does this increase in US news rank affect anyone's decision about attending? Would seem to me that this a bad year to be WL because people will probably more likely accept their offers

Admittedly it's making me give BU a second thought, but I don't think I want to be in Boston. Nice jump for them, though!Shootin wrote:CJRpnw wrote:Yeah. Ugh! Passed by Iowa! I wouldn't let it influence your decision. once you get past the T14, the rankings tend to fluctuate a lot. who knows where BU could be in 3 years after you graduate? I'm sure it'd still be ranked highly, but a jump from 26 to 20 shouldn't influence you.lurker816 wrote:Admittedly it's making me give BU a second thought, but I don't think I want to be in Boston. I totally agree with that. Also, large jumps like this tend to lead to decent drops next year anyway.

that being said, I do think BU was a little underranked. with its employment stats being better than some schools above it, I think it was underranked at 26 and should at least be above UMinn.Shootin wrote:CJRpnw wrote:Yeah. If you have any reservations about Boston you can PM me. Almost no one at BU law is actually from Boston and BU is in its own metropolitan bubble. You get a real feel that BU Law is truly becoming a more national law school. We have great reach -- the school makes it a priority to get students to other states if they want like, CA, NY, TX, FL, etc. We also have reciprocity with other law schools. That is, if you are looking for jobs in another state, you can request access to that school's job listing on Symplicity.lurker816 wrote:Admittedly it's making me give BU a second thought, but I don't think I want to be in Boston. Does anyone know if an email will be sent if we aren't being given any merit aid? I was accepted in late December and BU is the only school I haven't heard from regarding scholarships. I'm looking at four similar schools and am hoping that if BU offers even close to them I will attend but I'm getting nervous because of how late it is getting.

I called admissions when I was in your position last year and the receptionist was able to tell me how much I was being offered.AlaskaLaw wrote:Does anyone know if an email will be sent if we aren't being given any merit aid? I know that size of a jump at that level in the rankings doesn't mean much, but it's still making me antsy to [hopefully] get acceptedShootin wrote:CJRpnw wrote:Yeah. Ugh! Passed by Iowa! Who's still waiting for an acceptance? I applied and went complete 1.25 and haven't heard anything. Of course the status checker is useless. >75 LSAT and <25 GPA. Accepted and received 75k from BC and I went complete 1.28 there.

Im still waiting, similar stats. I applied right after December LSAT scores came out and I don't remember when I went complete. Also accepted to BC a few weeks ago with scholarship. About a month ago they asked me for an explanation about my LSAT because I had a huge jump from October to December but haven't heard anything sincetuesdayninja wrote:Who's still waiting for an acceptance? Waiting on BU as well, I went complete about a week earlier than you guys, and was accepted to BC early Feb with a generous scholarship. My status updater hasn't moved one bit since going complete.ejose123 wrote:Im still waiting, similar stats. accepted Jan 7 and still haven't heard a word about scholarship, whether it be merit or need. starting to get really antsy, with BU and one other school being my top two choices. i've narrowed it down, but the other school gave me 120k. BU is looking less and less realistic, even though i think i would rather be in boston
