Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
Yale never asked for my resume, and it wasn't until now that I realized what a huge mistake it was not to submit one. I also did not write in sentences to describe my activities page. Welp! I haven't been dinged, but I also did not submit my application until 1/4. I don't even have any softs with them aside from being URM (taking TFA out of the equation).
Is it too late to submit one?

it's interesting that in the discussion people treat the activities sections as the redundant part, and not the resume. i, like u, didn't submit a resume. i felt that the activities area was better suited for an explanation of my experiences. i realize i can't calm any anxiety over not leaving much in the way of descriptions for your activities, but i can tell u that a resume isn't necessary.Oskosh wrote:Yale never asked for my resume, and it wasn't until now that I realized what a huge mistake it was not to submit one. Someone actually asked this on the webinar I went to, and they said that while they'll add it to your file, it doesn't mean that they'll review the file again if it's already been reviewed, so they won't guarantee anything new will be looked at. In my opinion, send it- it probably won't hurt you, and it might help you if they haven't gotten to your file yet.sneakyleo wrote:Regarding your question, I don't know how Yale views someone sending additional items to add to their file. You could always call admissions to find out if you're allowed to add a resume after submitting. I'd also recommend browsing the admissions blog - the answer might be thereOskosh wrote:Yale never asked for my resume, and it wasn't until now that I realized what a huge mistake it was not to submit one. I think sending my resume is important, as I'm not K-JD and did significant things, like TFA and coaching little league soccer/baseball during my two years off.

I don't think that's crazy. I saved my rejection letter from Harvard College. Feels pretty good to look at it next to my HLS acceptance letter nowhereisonehand wrote:why on earth would you do that. rejection letters are easy to get.radcaster wrote:Gonna frame my rejection letter.

Way to go, lashley! Did you retake the LSAT, or just wait another cycle and improve your softs?

Oh sorry if that wasn't clear - I was rejected from their undergraduate college 5 years ago. I only applied once to their law schoolOskosh wrote:Way to go, lashley! Did you retake the LSAT, or just wait another cycle and improve your softs?

Haha. No, I misread. Harvard College as in the undergrad institution. I just read "Harvard" and stopped reading.lashley wrote:Oh sorry if that wasn't clear - I was rejected from their undergraduate college 5 years ago. Applied in December, haven't heard anything yet. Going crazy looking at the admissions graph, Yale Admissions seems very interesting and more inconsistent than the others.
Ah we can only wait.

Re: Yale c/o 2018 (2014-2015 Applicants)
Hello everyone!
Just decided to apply because no regrets, no what ifs, etc. etc. and I just finished reading this thread. Congrats to everyone that has gotten in! I was actually curious with what people did with diversity statements. Attached as an addendum? Or does Yale prefer not to have extraneous documents? I was also considering shortening my diversity statement into a 250...

Yay, welcome! I personally didn't write a DS (which I gather is unusual for an URM) but if it'd make a neat 250 I would probably go that route.ChemEng1642 wrote:Hello everyone!

Ditto ChemEng, took advantage of that 2/28 deadline
For my DS I rolled it into my college/post -college Activities- heritage affinity clubs etc.
I figure the less paperwork for them to read through, the better

Thanks for the welcome and advice!
I think I'll make my DS my 250 if I can (I had to shorten it to 300 words for another school anyway so what's cutting another 50 words?). It seems like the best way to get that content out while not providing them extraneous details!

For those who have years out of undergrad or significant work experience, I can tell you that the resume and the activities section are two VERY different beasts.foamborn wrote:it's interesting that in the discussion people treat the activities sections as the redundant part, and not the resume. i, like u, didn't submit a resume. i felt that the activities area was better suited for an explanation of my experiences. i realize i can't calm any anxiety over not leaving much in the way of descriptions for your activities, but i can tell u that a resume isn't necessary.Oskosh wrote:Yale never asked for my resume, and it wasn't until now that I realized what a huge mistake it was not to submit one.
