Also above both 75ths, went complete mid-September, haven't heard a peep yet (no interview request either)

Offered a Dillard! Very surprised, since I heard nothing during or immediately after my interview (with Black on 11/10) to suggest that I would get one. So many Dillards ITT.

I'm in the same boat, though I applied a month later (mid-October). I've heard literally nothing from them. In at Duke, interviews w/ Harvard and Chicago, but silence from UVA.yot11 wrote:Also above both 75ths, went complete mid-September, haven't heard a peep yet (no interview request either)
I think we're on the YP list, my friend.

What did you guys do for this activities/extracurriculars box that's 2,000 characters? All of this information is already included on my resume, I'm not sure if I'm expected to re-write it all in essay format now? I don't want to just copy and paste straight from my resume but I feel that it has all of the relevant information that they're looking for...
Also, for the hobbies and interests, do you think just putting down watching and playing sports would look bad? I mean most of my free time is spent playing (not at a very high level) or watching sports but it seems like a lame answer...

I just copy/pasted from my resume. not sure if that's the best way to do it but it didn't cause any problemsthatsnotmyname wrote:What did you guys do for this activities/extracurriculars box that's 2,000 characters? Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
For the activities and extracurriculars box I pretty much copied and pasted the relevant ones from my resume. I used complete sentences though. I had some activities that were not listed on my resume as well. If you are involved in any activities that are not mentioned in your resume, be sure to include those. I also mentioned how long I was involved in each activity. I separated the descriptions of each activity like (1) something something (2) something something (3) something something. Seemed to work out fine.thatsnotmyname wrote:What did you guys do for this activities/extracurriculars box that's 2,000 characters? You can list all the sports you play. I don't think I would mention watching sports as a hobby, but maybe that's just me.

I received a fee waiver today... Kind of surprised but I think I'll apply anyway. Any ideas as to why fee waivers are being sent so late (or even if this is late)?

Waives will be going out until January. It also does not mean anything in regard to admissions chancesmatlan72 wrote:I received a fee waiver today... Kind of surprised but I think I'll apply anyway. Any ideas as to why fee waivers are being sent so late (or even if this is late)?

No I know that, I was just surprised. It seems pretty late to get a waiver especially to a t14.james.bungles wrote:Waives will be going out until January. Still really early. Submitting before Thanksgiving is considered early.matlan72 wrote:No I know that, I was just surprised. Does UVA have a reputation of being generally more conservative in faculty/staff/students than other schools? Feel like I've seen that mentioned before but never directly discussed.

Yes, it does. And that fact was brought up when I visited by friends who go there who said it was conservative. I also definitely got that vibe on the tour.LetsGoMets wrote:Does UVA have a reputation of being generally more Conservative in faculty/staff/students than other schools? It explains nothing. UVA actually doesn't care which party you affiliate yourself with.lashley wrote:Welp, that explains a lot. My resume looks like I took a pledge of allegiance to the Democratic party.tal18 wrote:(Dean Faulk is a Republican.)

Interesting. I'm sure they're relatively partisan-blind in admissions, but still, helpful to know in terms of choosing where to spend 3 years.
