Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
I do wonder what led them to ask for interviews from some and not from others. I personally hate interviews and it's so difficult to schedule it around work, so I appreciate not being asked to do one. But I'm over both 75%, not from the area, RD, not-URM, and didnt write a "Why Cornell," but was straight accepted. Super Super grateful, but still... odd...

Any more insight on the interviews? Is this the first time they've done them this way?Lavitz wrote:Congrats to new admits

If it's actually a video recording like you say, then yes. Last two years they were live over skype with either an adcomm or one of the students who work in admissions. I never did one of those, but I guess be ready to explain why Cornell?LetsGoMets wrote:Any more insight on the interviews? It would be very helpful if anyone who experiences these could share those experiences.Lavitz wrote:If it's actually a video recording like you say, then yes. I'm probably going to wait till post-February LSAT scores to apply. I'm at their median GPA but I doubt my December '14 LSAT is going to be up to par. Think applying that late is going to hurt me?

You can go to LSN and select the "March-March" range for the last 2-3 years to get a better idea. You can also submit and ask that they hold until the new score comes in.m27 wrote:I'm probably going to wait till post-February LSAT scores to apply. Skype interview request for ED...
Above 75th LSAT and at 25th for GPA. Above-average softs.
So it couldn't be yield protection...
Ugh.

Great, I didn't think it was possible to submit an application and request that they wait to review it until the new LSAT score comes in. According to some numbers on LSN, it doesn't seem to impact your chances of admission but probably scholarship opportunitiesBig Red wrote:You can go to LSN and select the "March-March" range for the last 2-3 years to get a better idea. Re: Cornell c/o 18 Applicants
I received the invitation to do the interview last week and did the online video interview today. My interview had 4 questions to answer. They were all pretty standard interview questions, but it was definitely a different experience than interviewing on Skype.LetsGoMets wrote:Any more insight on the interviews? For one, you're only allotted a certain amount of time to provide your answer, so I got cut off by the website/software while answering the first question. Also, the question is presented and you don't have any time to collect your thoughts before the software starts recording. The amount of time you're given to answer each question is predetermined but varies and ranged from 30 seconds to 2 minutes for the questions I was asked. After the computer setup and testing to make sure everything was working properly, the whole interview took less than 5 minutes.
Hope that is helpful for anyone else who got the interview request and isn't able to travel up to Ithaca!
