Do all of them, well, at least a DS and PS. PS is obvious why, but the AD is optional unless you have a legit reason, and a DS shouldn't be optional. You may not face some racial or identity diversity, but that doesn't mean you aren't diverse. Put the work into the app, especially if you're shooting above what your numbers qualify you for.

Do you think I should include a diversity statement when it will pretty much restate my personal statement? My diversity would be me being the first to graduate in my family, growing up in a cult-like church, and pretty much being in foster care. I am using these all in my personal statement, because I think it shows how I've overcome adversity. Any advice or tips will be great.

So far I've only seen one requirement for one school regarding the PS. They just said it had to be no longer than three pages and anything can be talked about. I haven't found where the other schools have listed their requirements. Is it usually found in the application or something? Thanks

I think some schools have it listed on their websites, but yeah the safest bet is just to check applications when they open. Check the OP for a link to a calendar that lists all the Top 50 schools' app opening dates. Also, I happen to know that another calendar for the Top 100 will be coming sometime in the next few days.
Thank you for the info!

You shouldn't have a DS if you're already discussing all of that in your PS. However, I think you should only focus on one of those 3 for your PS, and then you'll have the material for your DS to use. You have 2 pages to tell your story in a PS, and that doesn't give you enough room to really discuss those 3 aspects in detail. I think in your case I'd frame my PS around the cult-like church. Obviously these 3 aspects have some overlap, but your PS will be stronger if there is laser focus.

Xylocarp, what are you doing tonight?
How'd you like it?

I had a typical stuck-at-college-over-the-summer-while-all-of-my-friends-are-home Saturday night — dinner with the SO then home to be boring together. Although, I'm reading Gone Girl right now at the insistence of a few friends, and it's awesome.
Lets just say that Louis is an interesting character.

We are going to do a blog on this, fyi, and ASAP. There seem to be a good deal of questions regarding when one should talk about diversity, adversity, etc and where. So we are on it!

I went to law school for a month a few years back when I didn't know about tls, I saw their employments numbers, left and retook, I'm applying again this cycle. I need a good standing letter from my previous school to be sent to the schools I'm applying to. Should I wait till Sept to request this or go ahead and do it now. I'm afraid of the school being busy once apps start coming in and delaying the process. But also feel like if a school gets a letter before I've applied/their app opened up, it would just be weird.

Don't do it before. They probably won't know what to do with it since you won't have a file.

I would get in touch with your old school over the summer to figure out who will be handling this for you and talk to them to make sure they won't have any problems getting the letters you need. But I'd hold off on having the school actually send them until you're sending out your applications. I wouldn't worry too much about them being busy later on -- the department that handles student records shouldn't be the same as the admissions department.

Hey guys, whenever you all start making c/o 2018 threads for specific T-14s, please link to this cycle's versions of the famous lawschool22 spreadsheets! All the links are in
this thread.
Thanks

that's awesome, xylocarp! Thank you! I hope we all remember to update as we go--half the people with my numbers on those spreadsheets still show decision pending. Do you guys think most of those people were denied?
Is anyone planning to go to one of the L.A.W.S. workshops the T-14 are hosting? I went to one last night. The panel wasn't that useful (although TLS actually came up, and the Harvard rep said she thought more of the things posted on these boards are true than untrue, which surprised/amused me)--it felt like an effort to increase apps more than anything else. But I got to talk to assistant admissions deans from all the schools, and that was really helpful. I learned a lot about public interest (the food and the bad) and some other stuff. I'd love to hear what anyone else thought or thinks of the next one.
