I applied in December, went complete late-January and the status checker has been silent ever since. Getting anxious. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Anyone here know how willing BU is to negotiate? If they give me the same amount WashU or ND did, I'm pretty sure this is where I'll be in the fall.

I'm sure they will negotiate with offers from higher schools along with BC offers.couchpizza wrote:Anyone here know how willing BU is to negotiate? If they give me the same amount WashU or ND did, I'm pretty sure this is where I'll be in the fall.

Sorry to hear that. Have you approached them with offers from other schools?BostonFuse51 wrote:I've been unsuccessful at trying to negotiate thus far.

Hey guys,
Current 1L here.
Just wanted to throw out some data points from my app cycle:
avg award for my class was $18.5K/year
many, many classmates did not have BU at the very top of their list, but the COA with scholly led them to attend
our school is truly, really, actually friendly. the atmosphere is fantastic.
personally, my scholly arrived a few _weeks_ after my acceptance. I am not kidding you--I had already fully knocked BU at sticker out, and then...game changer.
I never spoke with anyone in admissions...ever. Just got a VM at work with my acceptance.
BU can be difficult to negotiate with, and some of the admissions folks are a little unfriendly. please note that since I've been here, I've not spoken to any Admissions folks--that is to say, they don't affect your school experience.
our building is LITERALLY on its last legs, but the new building opens in August/Sept, so please excuse the appearance at ASW.
Feel free to PM if questions, but really, I don't know any more about admissions than what I posted above.
I wish you all the best in your cycles, and hope you end up at the right school for you!

I was really hoping to hear back from BU sooner than I have. I checked the status checker today for the first time (I didn't realize they had one) and I went complete 1/27 and haven't gone under review yet. I am at the median GPA with a 171.
I'm not really sure what to think about this...

Re: Boston University c/o 2017 (2013-14 admissions cycle)
I had heard some negative stuff about the student environment at BU--that people are very competitive with each other and such--but it seems like that hasn't been your experience. Can you talk more about student interactions and whether or not your classmates seem open to working together/helping each other, or if it is more of a competitive/independent work environment.RedGiant wrote:Hey guys,
