This won't make you feel any better but on the patience tip -- got accepted in December, applied for financial aid mid-February, didn't hear back about financial aid until end of first week of April (and I had pressed them about a deadline I had at another school which was the following Monday). Seems like timing is different this year, but the wait was worth it -- was pretty happy with the package.shntn wrote:Well that's easy. I just wasn't anticipating such a long wait. So Cornell (and other schools) don't offer merit aid any sooner than need-based? I guess I was confused as to whether they come out of the same pool of funds or not.spiritniffler189 wrote: This won't make you feel any better but on the patience tip -- got accepted in December, applied for financial aid mid-February, didn't hear back about financial aid until end of first week of April (and I had pressed them about a deadline I had at another school which was the following Monday). Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
It depends on the school. I'm really bad with financial aid stuff bc I just kinda looked at the bottom line of how much I'd get, but with Cornell they combined merit and need into your award letter (what I got in April). Georgetown on the other hand, first gave me need based aid, then 2wks later a merit scholarship but said that the need based portion was incorporated into my merit scholarship (so my total award was my merit scholarship, not merit + need).shntn wrote:So Cornell (and other schools) don't offer merit aid any sooner than need-based? It may be a timing thing. It looks like all the acceptances thus far have been for early September apps (or August?)

Yeah, irrational, but I get it. I just checked the mail (still waiting for word from Georgetown) and I found myself irritated that there was nothing there. But for crying out loud, it's only mid-October. We'd probably be feeling a whole lot better if we weren't reading these threads.iMisto wrote:I'm probably being irrational, but depression is starting to set in...

I must admit that I am somewhat disappointed every time I check my mailbox and only find yet another Cooley ad.elterrible78 wrote:Yeah, irrational, but I get it. IMisto, I'm just curious, what is it, specifically, about Cornell that makes you love it so much?

Urrrrthaaaaang. On vacation right now, but I'll throw some things out there - the AVON center (I spent much of my time in undergrad studying the issues they work on), the professors (especially Colb and Hazeldean), their LGBT clinic, their Law and Public Policy Journal, the cold/isolated environment, their placement in NYC, etc.

is it a little weird that there has been no new acceptances on lsn since 10-8 and people report getting in yesterday?
