Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
So the three week lag time was over on friday...this should have given JS enough time to make up for the three weeks of silence...now if no held person gets a JS1 this week then it can be officially said that Jessica Soban and her crew are slacking big time.

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
Just started thinking about a LOCI now that I have been Held for three or four weeks now. Is it weird to submit an LOCI after being held for a substantial period of time (relative to sending one right after being held?)

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
I didn't send a LOCI after being held (also a few weeks ago), and was going to wait until I had something interesting I could write along with it. Otherwise I'm of the mind that it'd be awkward.FryBreadPower wrote:Just started thinking about a LOCI now that I have been Held for three or four weeks now. Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
Q: Held for X weeks, should I send a LOCI?
A: IMHO, not yet. They haven't started evaluating held applicants yet, still going through January submits, therefore, not hearing anything as a held applicant is normal. Sending a LOCI (although I maintain it would still have no effect) after people from held pile starts getting news, but you are not among the ones that do, makes more sense.

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
the prob with this is that no one knows when they will start evaluating held applicants thats why people send in their LOCIs ASAP. If they start tomorrow and you have something that could have pushed you into the js1 pile and you waited until the first held person heard back you might run the risk of your app being read and decided upon already. So even if they haven't touched the held pile yet...its best to have it in early rather than late.Nulli Secundus wrote:Q: Held for X weeks, should I send a LOCI?

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
Again, IMHO, I think if you have something worth saying in an LOCI, it can do no harm. If you do not, and your LOCI does nothing to strengthen your application, then you should probably hold off no matter what. While an LOCI at other schools might demonstrate sincere interest for applicants where interest is something a school is using a hold/WL for gauging, HLS can safely assume that you are in fact very interested in attending.sharktankdean wrote:the prob with this is that no one knows when they will start evaluating held applicants thats why people send in their LOCIs ASAP. Who are you guys addressing the letters to? My hold email came from KB, so that's who I addressed mine to. Not yet mailed though.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Thanks brah!sharktankdean wrote:For harvard snail mail only....for other schools email with attachmentWhiteGuy5 wrote:So are we emailing LOCIs as attachments or snail mailing it?

I think you're better off going with JS - shows you're paying attentionMachineLemon wrote:Who are you guys addressing the letters to? My hold email came from KB, so that's who I addressed mine to. So what is the scoop on LOCIs? Only if you have some significant news?

I overnighted one today. The hold email specifically says "if you have a special interest in attending..." so I think they are open to a bit more than just transcript/resume updates.Elliott_Smith wrote:So what is the scoop on LOCIs? Only if you have some significant news?

I wrote about their concurrent degree program and told them about another admittance at a school in the area.mikeylikesit wrote:I overnighted one today. I'm writing about how I've always wanted to be part of the 1% and Harvard would pretty much guarantee that.MachineLemon wrote: I wrote about their concurrent degree program and told them about another admittance at a school in the area.

Bumping this up to the first page. There was movement today for JS2s, so hopefully the Held pile will see some communications in the near future...

Let's hope!
On a side note, what are everyone's thoughts about visiting campus while on hold? Something one should do? Explicitly shouldn't do?

TCR if you also creep on the admissions committee through the window while it is dark outside.edits wrote:Let's hope!

In the past, has movement in held pool mirrored the dates of the held emails? First held, first to hear back?
