I'm a Vandy 2L that spent a lot of time in these threads when I was applying. Thought everyone might want to know that there were approximately 50 acceptance packages waiting to be picked up by the mail carrier yesterday on the welcome desk. Just fyi

Nice! Thanks, hopefully we'll hear of some acceptances today and tomorrow
EDIT: Holy shit, just checked VULS. Decision Mailed, 12/5. Wow! The only reason I checked was the page-topping post about acceptance packages.
RD, Submitted 10/24, Complete since 10/31. Numbers at/above both 75ths.

I didn't think employment prospects were significantly, if at all, better at Georgetown than at Vanderbilt.anewaphorist wrote:To boil it down to pure numbers, the question seems to be, "Is Georgetown worth 70k more than Vandy?" Over the course of an entire career, the difference alone in the legal job prospects of a T14 graduate versus one who attended a non-peer school justifies the cost. This is all assuming an equal class rank at either school, of course. Yes, the T14 cutoff is aribitrary, but even a graduate of the #14 school had to make it through the 8th most selective application process--the numbers of Georgetown's admits are quite a bit higher than some T14s, and this too plays into hiring.
T12 IMO.
Fair enough. I meant more along the lines of the above (Gtown's prospects not being much, if any, better than Vandy's).hotspur wrote:idk. I'd think G'town's LRAP would get the nod at least 1 time out of 10....

What's sad is I meant to include Cornell, and for some reason thought there was a tie at 12. Oh well.Samara wrote:Quality Northwestern trolling. Nice, ncterp!
Re job prospects, certain markets are essentially closed to Vandy grads. Look at D.C.: Georgetown places very well there, whereas Vandy does not. On the other hand, there are no major markets that would take Vandy over Georgetown, whereas clearly there's at least one that prefers Georgetown grads and represents their alumni far more than they do VLS grads.

Somewhat unrelated note:
Do/has anyone said anything back to the school after being accepted?

Congratulations!!!
As to the employment perspective, my friend told me that international students would find it easier to get employed in a bigger firm because of visa problem. So I guess Gtown is better than Vandy in this aspect?

In via black box!
Pretty stoked about all the information they give you; it's a great contrast to the opacity of some other schools (cough, Georgetown, cough).

No one's reported a ding yet. I think you're safe. According to 2009 data waitlists/denials didn't come out until January (http://www.top-law-schools.com/images/d ... erbilt.jpg).cubbiesyear wrote:this. How long does it usually take after your interview to hear back about a decision? Just had mine tonight, been complete since 11/11/11 (such a cool date

It's definitely not essentially closed, but you're gonna need pretty damn good grades, but that's not unusual for DC firms, from anywhere.anewaphorist wrote:Nice, ncterp!

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
This is dumb. If anything, where you go to matters less as your career progresses. 8th most selective admissions means nothing in re hiring (see, e.g., Cornell and Michigan having better NLJ250 placement than GULC despite being less selective). I would never take GULC over Vandy at $70k.anewaphorist wrote:To boil it down to pure numbers, the question seems to be, "Is Georgetown worth 70k more than Vandy?" ^Lol at resurrecting a dead topic.
Anyone else crack open the spiral-bound book in the acceptance package? I'm amazed that it's compiled and edited by law students...
