Alright, so what's the deal here? How many RD people have gotten in and gotten that scholarship? I know i saw like three of you or four. hawkeye stallion and like one or two others. did you all say you anticipated asking for aid? and you all wrote separate why uva essay right? not that many RD people have gotten in since the initial hawkeye and stallion day right?

From what I have heard "EDing" is the ultimate Why X statement, clearly you want to go to that law school so everyone has been telling me if I ED there is no need to write one. Is this true?

I didn't write one. I think Ed'ing, and conveying unyielding interest over the phone/face to face is stronger. People remember behaviors and actions more than writing. It is also very hard to make writing seem truly genuine, even if you feel what you say.kingjones59 wrote:Seneca wrote:Congrats, Demeter! See you in C'ville!Demeter wrote:In! My personal statement was all about why my life experience makes a certain program at UVA my absolute 1st choice, and I got a call in two days so I actually think a "Why UVA" might be good. Without it, for all they know your reason for applying ED is that it's the best shot you have at a T10.kingjones59 wrote:Seneca wrote:Congrats, Demeter! See you in C'ville!Demeter wrote:In! EDIT: and all Jason Dugas really said about my application was that I had obviously done my research, and I think there were a lot of strong things about my app so that's a pretty significant statement on his part.

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I applied ED the other day, and I didn't write a "Why UVA" essay, although I did mention in my PS the reasons why UVA was my number one choice. I'm slightly below the median on LSAT and GPA, so I'm extremely nervous. Hopefully I'll have an update in a few days.

You're over one median, Mando was below both. I think you should be fine.kingjones59 wrote:Damn. Set in my ED app yesterday. 165/3.95 + pending oct lsat. Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Thanks!
I kind of have a weird situation regarding scholarships. I retook the lsat in October (no score yet obv) and when I got the call from Jason he asked me if I was sure I wanted them to decide based on my June score which freaked me out haha, but anyways, if I score significantly better in June does anyone know how that would affect potential scholarship? Should I contact the admissions office and have them reevaluate me for scholarships come that time?

Out of curiosity, what kind of scholarships are ED acceptances receiving?

He didnt mention anything when I got the phone call but I expected that with a 165....was hoping if my Oct lsat was higher I could be reevaluated for them but I dont know....

Re: UVA c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
At least in the TLS interview, Trujillo mentioned having given scholarships to multiple ED applicants and said applying ED doesn't effect your chances of receiving merit aid, fwiw. It seems unlikely, but it can't hurt to ask to be reevaluated either way.kingjones59 wrote:He didnt mention anything when I got the phone call but I expected that with a 165....was hoping if my Oct lsat was higher I could be reevaluated for them but I dont know....
