Do you think that Nova will lax their admissions standards a little bit this year due to the scandal? I always wondered, if a law school experiences a downgrade in USNews rankings do they ease their admissions standards because they are now lower ranked or do they stiffen their standards so that they can improve their rank? Or do they not even give a rats ass about USnews?

Also, has anyone been in review recently? My status went from complete to "in review" on 1/27 and I'm wondering if they're taking extra time to review my application or if they just stagnated. I'm asking because from my experience, all schools have given me a decision within 3-4 days of being "in review".

I think they have quick turnaround once you go into review. I've been complete since November 16 and have not changed since. So I'd like to bitch (again) about how shitty I think the admissions office has been with reviewing applications in the order that they come in.

Agreed, complete since 11/19. I'm above 75% GPA and LSAT and was really hoping for some monies. However, by the time they get around to my application that there will be no money left anywhere. Eek!

I only noticed two people were gone from the website.

But I hope the applicants who are still interested in coming to VLS, can stay patient.

I found them to be pretty generous to begin with. Hopefully when they start their admissions process back up again they will continue that

FYI, my friend who had an OCI today with a firm told me the interviewer didn't think much of the scandal.

Possibly, if the financial situation allows for it I believe that they certainly would. The hiring of the independent auditing firm does not help that obviously as it is a large expense. Yet, it is also a necessary expense.

But, if Villanova remains financially healthy, I think there is a decent chance that they award more money than ususal.

This is pure speculation, however, as I have not spoken to admissions or anything like that.

If you're operating a law school that isn't making money, you're doing it wrong. Scandal or no scandal, Nova and most other law schools have kids banging down their doors and phoning and emailing them constantly just to give them what is basically a guaranteed 120k per person. I don't think anyone at Nova should be worried about the school's financial stability....

I will be withdrawing today if I don't get some answers, and I will list the article (as well as the complete lack of communication) as my reasons for doing so. I have emailed twice and called three times and I have yet to get a response. I applied on November 15th and have not even gone under review yet.

Just FYI, I went snooping on the site to see if anyone had been fired. The dean and assistant dean of admissions are no longer on the website, so presumably they have been fired. That would explain the delay, although it's certainly no justification. Further, the "walking" dean's (the temporary one) also does not have a faculty page anymore.

Are you talking about Noe Bernal? Is he fired? How about Feona H. Persaud Singh? She is not responding my e-mails either? Is she fired too?

Yea Ive been trying to get my emails answered too. Bernal was def fired, but I thought Singh was the new person to contact. She hasn't returned my email yet though, although I think we have to cut her a little slack she just got promoted on Monday and I think they only have 3 admissions staffers working now.

I emailed admissions and received a personal phone call in response to my email the next day, which I was not only surprised but happy to have been responded to that way. I just wish they would look at my application. haha

I think we've been pretty patient actually and now we are sick of waiting. I don't care what anyone says about "That's just the way it is, it's a waiting game." They should have been reviewing the applications that came in first. End of story. (Though I am happy for those of you who have heard, don't get me wrong). And as someone else said, the more time that goes by the more likely it is that we won't get scholarship money.

I'm with you on this. Complete since 10/4. There was a reason I applied early, so my family and I could visit the locations and decide where we wanted to spend the rest of our lives. Scandal or not, I'd still like to know.

If you've been admitted already and didn't get a scholarship offer then you prob won't get anything substantial. I was admitted in Dec and got my scholarship offer with the letter.
