I thought most of the cycles were complete around April when the first deposits are due.

It really sucks that schools expect you to wait around when deposit deadlines are due soon.

San Diego does seem pretty slow. I have been complete since 1/18JLJ wrote:They sure like to take their time on accepting anyone.... I have been complete since 1/28. I really hope they come back with some scholarship monies. I got into Minnesota with a 20k/yr and I really don't want to freeze my ass off, but unless they can match or come close I might have to.

I got my acceptance today at my Mom's house for reason. How does scholly info come? There was nothing in the packet. Also, will they give a travel stipend? How are they with negotiation? Thanks, everyone!

Anyone think the 11 place drop in rankings will make it easier to negotiate up on scholarship money?

negative. they still have a lock on SD, and the drop was probably just from the bar passage this year which (we should all hope) will go way back up next year, as they've been implementing changes to help improve on that front.helloperson wrote:Anyone think the 11 place drop in rankings will make it easier to negotiate up on scholarship money?

really? What about the absolutely terrifying employment rate? where's the other 39%?!?!... or is that because their bar passage rate is so low... either way, scary. oh well. at least it'll be warmsmittelman6 wrote:negative. they still have a lock on SD, and the drop was probably just from the bar passage this year which (we should all hope) will go way back up next year, as they've been implementing changes to help improve on that front.helloperson wrote:Anyone think the 11 place drop in rankings will make it easier to negotiate up on scholarship money?

Re: University of San Diego 2011
I think it might have an impact on scholarship money. Last time they took a such a hit in the rankings they made major changes to their career services office. A drop like that, especially when Loyola went up in the rankings, really undermines the way their progress is perceived. So aside from implementing programs to improve bar passage and employment rates, both of which they only have a limited amount of control over, they can focus their substantial cash reserves on impacting the GPA/LSAT medians (two items which they have direct control over).smittelman6 wrote:negative. they still have a lock on SD, and the drop was probably just from the bar passage this year which (we should all hope) will go way back up next year, as they've been implementing changes to help improve on that front.helloperson wrote:Anyone think the 11 place drop in rankings will make it easier to negotiate up on scholarship money?

I was in yesterday as well. I didn't have schlly info. I was thinking maybe it came as a different letter or an email? Offer won't do me any good without money attached. Congrats on your acceptance. Does anyone know if they give a travel stipend? I should at least make it to SD to give them a fair shakeseaboot wrote:In on monday 3/14 (complete 1/19).

Got an email Wednesday from a professor on the adcomm who was suggesting that I check out a specific program related to my essay, "assuming" I get accepted. I know they're in there working on our apps, but I still haven't rec'd a decision

I couldn't agree more, seems like a great school, great weather BUT it's steep at sticker considering other offers from similarly ranked schools. I'll make sure to post if some scholarship money is tossed my way. Good luck!JayWilTheBoat wrote:I was in yesterday as well. I didn't have schlly info. Ok - so some of you got a scholly with a grade stipulation, correct? And others got a grant with NO stipulation (except that you have to demonstrate continued financial need)?
Are these basically the two types of aid being offered? Has anyone received both? A scholly AND a grant?

DR 3/16 and complete 1/19.
I'm getting the feeling that USD is a reach for those of us who got DR today...is this the first wave of rejections...
