Didn't mean to call you out on it, but I think you answered the question with the link you sent. At the end of the passage are further links for reviewing (like the one below). They all pretty much discuss what a "hold" means and it seems to be similar to being "deferred." Basically, the law school likes your application and considers you a strong candidate, but they don't want to over-admit too many students. Of course, this is a rosy spin to the situation. Another way to put it is that they've already admitted more people qualified than yourself and before admitting you, who would bring their admission metrics down (my numbers are both below the medians), they are praying that a satisfactory number of admits will pay their seat deposits. haha ahhh
