Congrats! Yeah, I wasn't sure what that meant... but I bet you're right. Might be just a way to keep yield numbers low.CapHillLove wrote:In... Thank God.
So it says that I'm in, but that I will not be "officially admitted" until I have sent in the scholarship forms and they have finished the scholarship review process. Is this a YP thing? Like they don't have to count people they admit but who don't send in the forms or withdraw before that review process in January is over?

Does anyone know the approximate probability of getting accepted from the priority reserve list?

Re: Duke 2011 - Priority Track
If I recall correctly, no one was admitted from either the PR list or the regular waiting list last year and the class was still overenrolled by around 25 students.Kili wrote:My guess is it would be reasonably high. but 170/3.7 should give me a decent shot at T14, right? Maybe my PS was horrible? How much will bad PS (not ridiculously bad, just perhaps not great) affect an applicant's chance if the number are ok (I thought mine are ok...)?

No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure you're in, and your acceptance or not will affect their yield percentage.CapHillLove wrote:In... Thank God.

Your Duke WL is surprising, but don't worry you'll definitely get in somewhere in the T14. Last year, out of 3.7x/170 applicants on LSN, Duke accepted 11/14 = 79% and 7 of them got $.justhoping wrote:thickfreakness wrote:If I recall correctly, no one was admitted from either the PR list or the regular waiting list last year and the class was still overenrolled by around 25 students.Kili wrote:My guess is it would be reasonably high. Don't feel too bad. We're practically numbers twins, and I got PR as well- and I thought I had a decent PS.justhoping wrote:thickfreakness wrote:If I recall correctly, no one was admitted from either the PR list or the regular waiting list last year and the class was still overenrolled by around 25 students.Kili wrote:My guess is it would be reasonably high. hey guys! how long did it take you to go complete? I submitted on Wednesday and haven't heard anything. I thought that it was because of the holiday weekend, but if people are receiving decisions it means that they were in the office!

I think I submitted my application on 11/20 (a Saturday), received a confirmation email on 11/21, and went complete 11/22. Then under review 11/23.Spykuh wrote:hey guys! how long did it take you to go complete? I submitted on Wednesday and haven't heard anything. Class of 2013
“Admission to Duke was so competitive this year that, for the first time in recent history, the Law School could not extend admission to any student on the waitlist. Applications for admission in 2010 were 25 percent higher than in 2009 (over 7,900 applications), and the admission rate was a record low 13.2 percent.”
GPA Median: 3.8
LSAT Median: 170

when did they start the PT thing? if they just started the PT last year, it could be that?paralegal wrote: “Admission to Duke was so competitive this year that, for the first time in recent history, the Law School could not extend admission to any student on the waitlist. Otherwise I hope Duke is attracting all the 175+'s and free up some space @ HYS+CCN for those of us with lower #'s, which is not gonna happen...

if all else fails, I'm just gonna stay in Canada, eh!

Re: Duke 2011 - Priority Track
Not sure exactly when Duke started the Priority Track Program. However, on another law school forum, there are posts dating back to 2006 discussing Duke’s Priority Track.justhoping wrote:when did they start the PT thing? if they just started the PT last year, it could be that?paralegal wrote: “Admission to Duke was so competitive this year that, for the first time in recent history, the Law School could not extend admission to any student on the waitlist. According to “The Devil’s Advocate,” an independent newspaper published by the Duke Student Publishing Company, Inc., “only 2,000 people are typically offered Priority Track.”
From a recent interview on AdmissionsDean.com, Bill Hoye, Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs….
“ Each year, we invite a small number of candidates to apply to Duke through this program. We guarantee that the applicants will receive a response from us within ten days after the application becomes complete.”
“We keep the Priority Track pool very small so that we can give each application the same rigorous treatment that every other application receives, but we’re careful to ensure that the evaluation happens within a very tight timeframe.”

Re: Duke 2011 - Priority Track
I was staying away from posting on the thread because I didn't want to get my hopes up... Just found out today, priority reserved... 3.96/175... I'm guessing it's because my first LSAT was a 162... Super disappointed though =( Bad ending to my Thanksgiving weekend
