The internet taught me that everything in Australia is out to kill you though so be careful.

You should look into St. Lucia or Barbados. Both are beautiful and have all the resorts you'd want but the rest of both islands is wonderful.

+1 Costa Rica, and also adding South Korea/Japan in depending on when in June you go. Monsoon season starts in late June, and the rainy season also hits Japan around the same time, but if you are a little earlier you can avoid it. There are some great beaches in Okinawa and Gangwon-do

So, if department of education gets nuked by the end of 2018 is everyone taking out 3 years worth of loans right now?

might not even get that chance:TexasENG wrote:There's gotta be a way to con Devos into funding your education. The current political climate will probably end up playing a bigger part in my decision than I'd like.

Well for me it's being anxious about LRAP's tied to IBR and PSLF, which could be gutted. Though there has always been uncertainty, I'm especially anxious now.
So I'm probably going to be less debt tolerant than I otherwise would have been.

Are you not planning on using Stafford loans? Or using LRAP? You're on top law schools, if there's anxiety I would assume it's somewhat founded.canafsa wrote:Melodramatic milennialsKeilz wrote:HowStephylynette wrote:Mhm.govlife wrote:Yup.TexasENG wrote:SameRigo wrote:The current political climate will probably end up playing a bigger part in my decision than I'd like.

I'd imagine that anyone who was already receiving Stafford loans would be grandfathered in if any changes were made to loan policies, since that would be the logical thing to do for students part of the way through their educations. However, logic seems to be on shakier footing these days...Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Are you not planning on using Stafford loans? Or using LRAP? Exactly my concern. I'm not freaking out about it but as a new borrower- yes, that possibility does give me a bit of anxiety.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Are you not planning on using Stafford loans? The bill language is "the department of education will not exist by December 31, 2018." They have nothing to try to do anything to smooth the process, so I'm not sure where I can be assured that Congress will do anything to make this process smoothI'd imagine that anyone who was already receiving Stafford loans would be grandfathered in if any changes were made to loan policies, since that would be the logical thing to do for students part of the way through their educations. Stafford's are the federally subsidized student loans administered by the DOE. If education is gone (bill in the house right now) then there will be no more subsidized loans for education.Keilz wrote:So what are Stafford loans and what are happening to them? I don't think a bill without any provisions like that could make it to a vote, but my Washington predictions have been wrong a lot as of late.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:The bill language is "the department of education will not exist by December 31, 2018."
