Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Ohh well this is interesting, and explains why developments happen in waves rather than trickles. Sounds like this may answer DiniMae's q too: it looks like we're evaluated by a committee rather than by an individual professor after our JS1 (which, damn, is pretty cool).90convoy wrote:This probably doesn't help you all, but my interviewer told me that it was very early in the process and that my app (along with everyone else's??) still had to go under committee review. She also said the committee doesn't meet often. Maybe this implies that everyone gets reviewed after JS1? idk
Course, that doesn't answer whether or not all post-JS1 files go to review (Majin's q). I'd suspect that not all do though, because 1) it makes sense that they wouldn't waste a prof's time if you bomb your interview, but more concretely 2) there were a couple in this most recent ding wave who interviewed very recently. This suggests to me that they weren't passed on for faculty review, which is why a decision on them was rendered so quickly.
Thoughts?

Sounds like work is getting done. Good job team. Let's get to 180 by 2pm or whatever the cutoff was for the first round of acceptances.pylon wrote:It's so outrageous it might be true. Doesn't completely address the month-long gap in JS2s though. Surely the committee would meet several times during February.rseaney wrote:Thoughts?

i see why you'd say that, but im not so sure. "doesn't meet often" may mean they meet only ~once a month or something.nickhalden wrote:Doesn't completely address the month-long gap in JS2s though. Surely the committee would meet several times during February.rseaney wrote:Thoughts?

That's true. Does anyone know the typical gap between JS2 waves?rseaney wrote:i see why you'd say that, but im not so sure. Here's a sad thought--with daylight savings time, we have one fewer hour of waiting this weekend

1. 12/15
2. 1/20
3. 2/2-3-4
4. Unknown
Last cycle they were much more periodic. I'd say roughly every two weeks? Especially in February/March.

Pylon to the rescue! The waves have been pretty tightly grouped. There were 17 business days between #1 and #2 and 10 between #2 and #4. It's been 21 days since the last JS2 wave. We're definitely due.pylon wrote:Typical gap this cycle?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Interesting question. Here's the list of JS2 and Rejection waves, organized by date.mwonka wrote:what about dings? any patterns regarding time between rejection waves and JS2s?
- 12/15/2014 JS2
1/20/2015 JS2
1/20/2015 Rejection
1/21/2015 Rejection
2/2/2015 JS2
2/3/2015 JS2
2/4/2015 JS2
2/11/2015 Rejection
2/19/2015 Rejection
3/2/2015 Rejection
3/3/2015 Rejection
I don't think there are any trends, but I'm also not looking very closely because I'm reevaluating my life, so who knows aha.

My monopoly money is on JS2s next week, although I'd be delighted to be proven wrong.

Do we know if JS1's trickle out or if they come in waves? Have there been many JS1's for people around both medians?

They come in waves. Look at poll or the spreadsheet in OP for a sense of who has gotten JS1s so far.mimiquestionmark wrote:Do we know if JS1's trickle out or if they come in waves? Have there been many JS1's for people around both medians?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I know that many of you are basing your admissions data on the 2014 numbers....but I was told from a very reputable source that 2014 was NOT a typical admissions cycle. Last year they admitted a larger than normal percentage of the class EARLIER in the cycle than usual. In 2014 applicants were negatively impacted MORE than usual if you applied later in the cycle (like I did
). I know that many of you are stressing out- but a pretty significant number of you that don't get a JS1 now will get one post WL, and some who have already had a JS1 will be admitted -either by 4/1(or wait list date) or post WL. Also the information that you have is not very representative! Besides the fact that people who post on TLS are a small percentage of the applicant class-many people do not post on these threads because they fear being outed- especially the 178-180 LSAT people/ people with unususal WE, etc. However- judging by the recent Harvard parody performance most of the current classes at least lurked on TLS
. My advice to everyone-relax (while you can...before you are a 1L
). If for some reason you don't join us next year- you will have other great options! Good luck!
