I usually try to be encouraging and positive, but that would be disingenuous in this case. You need to determine exactly how the wires got crossed ... and if you determine they called you at the wrong time, engage and argue your case. If you determine you were at fault, send them an apology and a very brief explanation of what went wrong. Don't leave them thinking it was sheer incompetence if there is any alternative version of the facts you could provide.
You don't want to sound quibbly or whiny -- that would sink you. But if they thought enough to interview you in the first place, you are competitive for admission and you have enough credibility to stand on a reasonable explanation. If HLS somehow called you at the wrong time, pointing it out to them matter-of-factly will portray you as just the kind of person they want. Someone who can put aside emotion and let the facts tell the tale.

Haven't been here in a while. How's everyone doing? Nothing to report here, sadly.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
this is completely correct. you need to find out if it was your fault or theirs. there are numerous confirmation emails along the way that should settle this. dont let it go yet.kingsfield69 wrote:basil8 wrote:none of you win. either i wrote my time down wrong or they did but KB called me in the middle of a class and I ended up with a 5 minute interview. bye harvard.

Indeed. If its your fault, own up to it. But if its their fault, you do not want it to damage your chances in anyway. In either case, I would offer to re-schedule at any time if they might be willing to do so... who knows.kingsfield69 wrote:basil8 wrote:none of you win. either i wrote my time down wrong or they did but KB called me in the middle of a class and I ended up with a 5 minute interview. bye harvard.

I hate being in Hold limbo, knowing full well that they will wait until late March to inform me that I'm on the waitlist. I wish there was a fast forward button.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
That's so bizarre. Was anyone else's email confirmation in Atlantic time? That's a tough break, basil, but it's a legitimate point of confusion and they should be understanding.basil8 wrote:
i went back to my confirmation emails and it turns out the time zone was incorrect (atlantic instead of eastern). i assumed that since harvard is in the EST that was going to be the time listed. i sent them an email apologizing again and explaining but who knows if it'll do any good.
From wikipedia:
"No portion of the United States is located in the Atlantic Standard Time Zone, but its territory of Puerto Rico is."

lol they put you in a time-zone that isnt even part of the US - what? they should definitely give you a chance to reschedule (depending on how long/well your truncated interview went). thats not really fair

Got Held about a month ago... 167 4. I just took and passed (well preliminary pass) the Patent Bar exam. I was hoping to get some input from you all about whether this is worthy of a LOCI or thoughts?
So that I don't double post because I'm sure similar ppl are in the Stanford and Harvard threads.. thoughts about sending this information to Stanford before a decision has been made.....

are there any unrequited js1'ers out there who felt like their interview went fine or even, dare say, well? wonder if you can do well on the interview and still not get in (atleast immediately) because your numbers arent auto-admit worthy

I think its more about timing. I feel like no matter how auto admit material you are/how much you aced your interview, you are not going to get JS2 until the next wave i.e. until Harvard accumulates enough JS2 to warrant a batch.az21833 wrote:are there any unrequited js1'ers out there who felt like their interview went fine or even, dare say, well? wonder if you can do well on the interview and still not get in (atleast immediately) because your numbers arent auto-admit worthy

And there are many more who aren't posting their stories. It's all good man, relax and let it come when it comes. You can't predict these thingssabanist wrote:I didn't get a "talk to you soon" or anything either. I cried in the middle of the grocery store and was inconsolable for two days when a wave of JS2s went out the next week and I wasn't one of them. It was all wasted angst. Y'all will be fine.
