We are very glad to have received an application from you to the University of Michigan Law School, and we found your qualifications admirable and impressive. Although you are without question a very strong candidate, we are unable to offer you admission at this time. I sincerely hope you are willing to be considered as part of our waitlist while we ascertain what space is available in the entering class of 2010. No applicant is invited to be placed on our waitlist unless we are confident that he or she would be a fine addition to our class should space become available. In other words, receiving this email means that you are someone whom we would be glad to have in our entering class, but to whom we cannot extend an offer at this time because of the risk that our class will be overenrolled. If you are interested in being considered on this basis, please complete the Waitlist Response Survey (link). Our online status checker will reflect our receipt of your response, if you want to double check.

What was the WL situation like last year? Does anyone know how many or roughly what % was taken off the WL?

Any updates to 2/27 yet? Does anyone's status checker reflect the fact they were waitlisted yet?

I don't think it will until you respond to the survey thing and the checker is updated on Monday....Jericwithers wrote:Any updates to 2/27 yet? Does anyone's status checker reflect the fact they were waitlisted yet?

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Lol ya it was very disheartening to me last night. I think there are two steps in the WL process: wl offer extended and then waitlisted. It should be extended until I accept, then it will say waitlisted.Veritas wrote:I don't think it will until you respond to the survey thing and the checker is updated on Monday....Jericwithers wrote:Any updates to 2/27 yet? So nobody else got an 11pm email saying they were waitlisted, right? Special, special me

Oh ok I guess I wasn't the only one they decided to stay up late to waitlist. Sorry for the bad news.Drew2010 wrote:WL, got the e-mail around 12:45 in the morning, which I thought was an odd time..

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Got back in town at midnight last night and found a lovely WL from Michigan in my inbox. Not surprised, as I didn't write any supplemental essays, and not sure if I want to stay on the WL.

Been a lot of carnage in here lately. Reading the last few pages I saw a few more WL with numbers equivalent to mine, which actually made me feel better for some reason. So where are all the 3.5-3.7/170-173 people who got in. Not in this thread?

If anyone ever thinks they hate LSN and wants to feel better about themselves, feel free to hop on over to NYU's graph, look for the highest and furthest-to-the-right red dot you can find, and then remember I applied ED too.Jericwithers wrote:Ugh I hate LSN. Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Just so I can add it to my thought process, does anyone know the the best case scenario for getting off a WL in terms of time? Late April? I know the worst case is it can take all the way until August, right?

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
I would think the best case would be a day after the first deposit is due. Hopefully some time before that once people start withdrawing.LieutKaffee wrote:Just so I can add it to my thought process, does anyone know the the best case scenario for getting off a WL in terms of time? Re: michigan 2010 applicants
The best case could be as early as mid to late March. If you show interest, and they like you, and feel they have room, it can definitely happen. Past that, once the first deposit comes in in April, and they have a better idea of their class, they'll let people in if they have room (typically around a week later).LieutKaffee wrote:Just so I can add it to my thought process, does anyone know the the best case scenario for getting off a WL in terms of time? The worst case scenario is early September, if someone doesn't show up to orientation...

There may have been one or two YPs that got in in late Feb/early March, and DD got in after the Feb LSAT results came back. Outside of that, due to overenrollment, no one got in off the waitlist for Fall 09 after early March or so. A few got deferred admission for 2010 Summer Start over the summer, but that was it...

Got my first scholarship offer of the cycle today, from Michigan. Totally wasn't expecting anything from anyone, so 18k is making me pretty happy. So, lots of sad waitlists, but they are still sending out happy news.

I think rereading that that it sounds a little unsympathetic, especially in light of the recent pages of waitlists. Sooo, sorry 'bout that

No offense taken. The LS application cycle tends to be something of a mixed bag for everyone, and I think we're all entitled to enjoy any and all good news received.Lermontov wrote: Thanks

Yes, and it still doesn't reflect the fact that I was waitlisted. I knew it was a mistake!calicocat wrote:Status changed to feb 27th. Anyone else?
