Was there a ding wave today? I thought I saw somebody mention it but it got swallowed up by all the joyous news.

Probably one big one at the end of March, based on previous cycles. Although hopefully there will be more coming along sooner.buffy123 wrote:How many more JS2 waves do we anticipate? Any guesses??

Me, after November JS1. But it seems I am the only person today at least on this forum, so I wouldn't count it as a separate "wave" to occupy a single whole number either. Maybe it's just the server batch job leftover from yesterday (or they made this specifically for meHildegard15 wrote:Was there a ding wave today? Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
Hello everyone,
I have been enjoying reading this thread for quite a while. I applied early October and interviewed mid-November. My GPA> 75th and 25th< my LSAT < 50th. KJD, unusual softs, non-URM. It is pretty discouraging to watch so many people who interviewed after me getting accepted before I have heard anything. Does this mean I am likely heading for the waitlist? Also, does Harvard appreciate LOCIs? Sorry if this has been asked and thanks for your feedback!

According to the facebook group, there's only about half of the accepted students numbers right now so don't despair! You have amazing numbersMmeDefarge wrote:Hello everyone,

Yeah, waiting is definitely the worst, but I wouldn't be too worried yet. I had my interview on January 15, and I heard back yesterday. I applied at the end of November.Dishydiana wrote:That's great news! Would you mind sharing (again, maybe?) when your JS1 was?

People's opinions on sharing a bathroom with an entire floor at Gropius:Hildegard15 wrote:Anybody have ideas for a new poll? I'm gonna be changing this one soon
1. Initiating daily orgies in the gender neutral bathrooms
2. Selling various internal organs and moving into an HLS Apartment cuz those hardwood floors tho
3. I'm a level 19 vegan subsisting solely on sunlight and Harvard prestige and haven't made use of my digestive system in 6 years
4. You mean there are people that share bathrooms?! *drives away in solid gold Rolls Royce with THXDADDY vanity plates*

Cooley, show up for nothing but exams, work on attaining skills for another career for three years (or even working another career), enjoy half mil jumpstart on life.

I'd also go with Cooley. Forget about the law degree, invest the 500k, and use the three years to learn business skills.pterodactyls wrote:Which would you choose if given the options:Hildegard15 wrote:Anybody have ideas for a new poll? I'm gonna be changing this one soon

Realistically I'd pick Georgetown, and entirely free and well-respected degree.RZ5646 wrote:I'd also go with Cooley. Admittedly I don't know much about investing, but if you gave 500k to a good financial adviser, you could live off of the returns, right? Being totally free to focus on my own projects and not have to worry about putting bread on the table would be worth having a lesser degree.James.K.Polk wrote:Realistically I'd pick Georgetown, and entirely free and well-respected degree.RZ5646 wrote:I'd also go with Cooley. You'd have to make some really good investments if you wanted to live comfortably. But yeah, if you found a job (probably non-law job, because Cooley) to cover your rent/mortgage, you could live pretty pleasantly.Riversend wrote:You'd probably still want a decent job to cover basic expenses, but with that money in the bank you would have greater freedom in finding one you like rather than needing to find one that pays very well.RZ5646 wrote: Admittedly I don't know much about investing, but if you gave 500k to a good financial adviser, you could live off of the returns, right? Think about it like this. If you sunk the $500k in an ETF that matched the S&P500, then you would get the average rate of return in the long run--8%, I think.
If you harvested ALL of your gains in an average year, then you'd get $40k/year. (500*.08)
Not a terrible fallback source of income, but not every year will be average, and you'd be better off just letting that baby grow, reinvesting the income, and then use that jumpstart on retirement savings in order to retire early.
But yeah, I'd probably take the Cooley +500k. Which then calls into question why I'm about to go $200k further into debt in order to get a law degree... but.. fuck it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
