I don't feel that this is particularly accurate. Maybe my perspective is skewed because I was accepted off the WL last year, but it seemed like a fair number of people posted about calls in the days/weeks after I got mine. I think schools (last year at least, I would imagine it's the same this year) are being more selective in how many splitters they admit outright in order to keep numbers up, and resort to the waitlist when the really attractive admits turn them down for better offers.FlowBro wrote:By the looks of LSN, NYU seems pretty stingy with WL -> Accepted applicants.

WL as well. VERY surprised, given my numbers. Any ideas on the size of the WL and how many people are offered admission?

Does anyone get $$ off the WL? Trying to decide whether to withdraw.

Waitlisted. It's so frustrating that people with slightly worse GPAs than me (I have 4.06/168) are in but since they applied earlier than me they were admitted. Maybe NYU shouldn't take months before sending out decisions.

From the looks of LSN last year, WL basically meant no money unless you were an obviously YP 3.8+ 174+megagnarley wrote:Does anyone get $$ off the WL? Trying to decide whether to withdraw.

Both good points. There are so many factors, not all of them fair, which make this whole process pretty arbitrary.gravitygravity wrote:Honestly, totally besides the point, but it also sucks that some of us can't attain that kind of a GPA because an A+ in another school only counts as an A for us and thus we have slightly worse GPAs despite earning numerically identical grades...sideoffries wrote:Waitlisted. What I find particularly infuriating about the whole GPA A/A+ thing is that the LSAC has got to be well-aware that their grading system gives certain schools a pretty substantial bump (or some schools a substantial ding). I mean, I've seen people that their LSAC GPA go from something like a 3.7 to a 3.8, which is a substantially different GPA to a T-14. And yet, they do nothing to address or equalize this, and schools can use the higher GPA for their medians.

Are you guys saying that your schools didn't give A+ because it wasn't worth more than an A? If your school gave A+ but didn't factor that extra into your GPA, it's still included as extra by LSAC.
At my school an A+ was only worth 4.0 so I think maybe professors had less incentive to give them out.

My school distributed grades on a pure GPA scale. As in, you would get a GPA grade from each course. Professors would generally set a 90% to a 3.5 and 100% to a 4.0, or some variation on that. Or in English classes, you would just get your papers back with a grade of say, a 3.8, 3.9, 3.7 and those grades would be averaged to give you your final grade. So for me, there wasn't ever an option to get more than a 4.0 in a course, and there definitely wasn't anything that would let the LSACgive me the A+ bump, even if I had made a straight 100% in the course.
And yeah, I think some schools simply don't assign A+ as a letter grade.

yeah, my school didnt give A+'s. Its BS that other people get those by I dont, cuz there were plenty of classes I would have had an A+ in if they existed at my school.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
