Also got admitted via email yesterday - was held on 2/23. Any thoughts on the chances of negotiating some scholarship money out of Columbia this late in the game? Have $90k from Northwestern and $54 from Michigan to work with. Not sure if that is enough to be persuasive given their lower ratings.

Columbia tends to be stingy, so don't expect anything, but it won't hurt to try.

Out of curiosity, did you by any chance get a request from Columbia for a LOCI?

Yea, I did get a request for a LOCI, but I had already submitted one. Sent it to them unsolicited a week or two after I was put on hold in late February.

This. Considering the 175+ group saw a decline of more than 34% over the last 2 years, I'm hoping Harvard is a bit more lenient on splitters just so it can maintain its 75th percentile. In turn, I hope this helps me get into Columbia

But then why are some of us in that 175+ group still sitting here with our dance-cards nearly empty? I mean, I realize I'm a terrible dancer and all, but I don't think I mentioned that in my loci.

Well, I'm not actually an international, I'm a Yank. I did my undergrad overseas (good choice at the time, and wouldn't change but it's making this a bit of a process), but I'm doing grad school in the states currently.

And it's not that you suck, Somebody. I'm sure there are plenty of other explanations. They could have lost your app, or one of your rec. letter writers got you confused with someone else and wrote a terrible letter or...hmm, those aren't much better. Perhaps I shouldn't go into a career in counseling.

Anecdotal, but this was a good sign for me. Accepted 2 days after they received them, even though my GPA dropped.

Thanks, that makes me feel better because my GPA dropped slightly as well. I had been hoping I could slide by without them asking, but I'm not that concerned about it anyways. It's not like they were ever going to take me for my GPA.
