Unless they want to hold us until after ASW to see how many show/deposit/withdraw.

Haha yea I think the same thing. At this point I probably have too much in motion to make the change to Stanford worth it so ultimately the waitlist could just save me the stress of seriously thinking it out.

Yeah, I feel a strong sense that i am going to be WL'ed. I have a little more flexibility because I am not tied down by family, significant other, other job-specific ties, etc.

I don't feel like ASW would give them that much of an idea about class commitment, would it?

This doesn't make sense. Why do they have to adhere to "protocol" just for the sake of doing so when potentially hundreds of people are tearing their hair out waiting to hear back?? Cruel.

Judging from other ASWs, a lot of people deposit and withdraw right after.

Probably a time sink to send one letter at a time. They can finish evaluations more quickly for all by not doing a piecemeal delivery of decisions.

This has to be credited. What other excuse is there to hold on to an app for 6 months? Especially when it is two months after you stopped accepting applications. I've literally seen nine-figure business deals develop faster than this.

Whatever the reason, I echo what so many others have said already that I'm just ready to move on with my life. This whole application process has been so much more mentally exhausting than I thought. Wish I could have been one of those people who just never gave it a second thought after entering Submit, but then again I probably wouldn't have come across the collective knowledge that is TLS either. For the most part, we just got to remember that it's mostly over in the next 2 weeks.

Now, you and I both know there is a very quick way to reach a decision – look only at the numbers and skim everything else – but that is so antithetical to our philosophy here at SLS and that idea will never take hold. It is not a numbers game to us.

+1 million! My dad keeps calling/emailing me once a day to ask if I've heard from Stanford or Yale yet. And the answer is always the same...sigh.
