Rejected. 175. 3.81.
I did not write a Why Penn?, nor did I write any optional essays.
I also applied rather late in the cycle.
So if you wish to go to Penn then don't do those things.

Yeah dinged this afternoon too.

174 3.86. Submitted 1/17. Didn't write any additional stuff.

But I've got into better schools so I didn't really care. App Fee waiver was the reason I applied. =[

Got the WL email Friday. Late app, hard splitter, no Why Penn. Kinda surprised not to get an outright ding (esp. considering the harsh treatment some of y'all got) but I won't be mad about making a visit to Philly to press the flesh.

This is from ages ago, but I'm pretty sure this "Clearly" character is a sub 3.3.

Don't you have a Dillard to fall back on? I don't see why this complaining is necessary on multiple Penn threads...just say screw it and move on my friend

Because the guy said he'd let me know today, had previously offered me a ~100k scholly, and then never called today, wasn't even in the office when I called, and thrn they told me they had nothing and wouldn't extend the deadline at all.

Seriously very unprofessional and rude by Penn, I don't think I'm in the wrong by being upset about this. I don't get why they would accept me right near the deadline and then throw me under the bus, would rather have been YPed instead.

ETA: didn't mean to post in multiple threads, accidentally posted here first, so actually didn't try to sound as much as a drama queen
Granted it's annoying that the guy said he would let you know today, and never called, nor was in the office. But you're making your self sound so entitled to them rolling out the red carpet for you, so JFC. If you withdrew because you were slightly inconvenienced by this guy being out of the office, obviously you really didn't want to go there, so good thing he wasn't in the office. Personally I would have paid what ever deposit they wanted for even the slightest chance that they offered me any money at all. Hell, I would walk to Northern Jersey and get them a pair of left handed golf-clubs and a picture of a midget holding these balloons (please, someone better know that reference) if that was their deposit. But obviously you have bigger fish to fry, so good luck where ever you end up!
