I was on about the same timeline as Geneva, but without the letter asking for a loci...so I figured I may as well send one today. We'll see if that helps or hurts or just continues to hold...

Just admitted via email. Hadn't heard a word since I submitted in November, until yesterday when I received an email asking me to clarify something about my transcripts.

I called and explained the situation politely. They told me they'd make a note and that they'd get it done before I hit my deadlines.lawhopeful2012 wrote:would anyone who emailed me columbia notifying them of upcoming scholarship deadlines mind pm'ing what they said? having trouble trying to politely phrase and still put pressure on them

Looks like Columbia is filling a GPA gap (based on the fact that everyone who's recently been accepted has GPAs of around 3.

Wait till Harvard pulls a billion people off the WL and they realize they need some above median LSATs.dingbat wrote:Looks like Columbia is filling a GPA gap (based on the fact that everyone who's recently been accepted has GPAs of around 3.

Ya, I didn't get a LOCI request even though I had sent one before. I'm feeling that might be just because they aren't really interested.

What a strange cycle. Will Columbia actually be forced to use the reserve group? I'm not sure I share the positivity that a lot of people have about WL acceptances, but I would sure love it to be true!thelawyler wrote:Wait till Harvard pulls a billion people off the WL and they realize they need some above median LSATs.dingbat wrote:Looks like Columbia is filling a GPA gap (based on the fact that everyone who's recently been accepted has GPAs of around 3.

This. Considering the 175+ group saw a decline of more than 34% over the last 2 years, I'm hoping Harvard is a bit more lenient on splitters just so it can maintain its 75th percentile. In turn, I hope this helps me get into Columbiathelawyler wrote:Wait till Harvard pulls a billion people off the WL and they realize they need some above median LSATs.dingbat wrote:Looks like Columbia is filling a GPA gap (based on the fact that everyone who's recently been accepted has GPAs of around 3.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Yes, but it assumes the YTD decline percentages remain relatively constant for the remainder of the year, which is almost guaranteed they will. The data are pulled directly from LSAC's national decision profile (2010 vs 2011) and current volume summary (2012 YTD).Mista Bojangles wrote: Wow, is that really the case? Here's the rest of the breakdown, as measured by percentage change in applicants by highest LSAT score.

key:
Δ2010/2011 = change in applicants by LSAT score from Fall 2010 to Fall 2011.
Δ2011/2012 YTD* = change in applicants by LSAT score from Fall 2011 to Fall 2012 year to date.
Δ2010/2012 YTD* = change in applicants by LSAT score from Fall 2010 to Fall 2012. This portion assumes that the YTD percentages remain constant.
(Σ Δ) / n = overall decline. E.g. for last year (delta 2010-2011), overall apps decreased by 10.7%. (Sum of deltas divided by the number of deltas)
YTD=03/30 = Numbers for this year as of March 30th 2012.

But then why are some of us in that 175+ group still sitting here with our dance-cards nearly empty? I mean, I realize I'm a terrible dancer and all, but I don't think I mentioned that in my loci.KevinP wrote: This. Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Also got admitted via email yesterday - was held on 2/23. Any thoughts on the chances of negotiating some scholarship money out of Columbia this late in the game? Have $90k from Northwestern and $54 from Michigan to work with. Not sure if that is enough to be persuasive given their lower ratings.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
