Are you gonna miss me?sublime wrote:So are we doing a similar meetup for the April ASW that we had for the March one? I had a good time and am definitely willing to do it again (esp if at BB Hill or elsewhere on the loop). I will have to defer to the March ASW attendees for this, but it seemed like they had a good time and thought it was helpful.

I can't speak for everyone, but I had a good time. I thought talking to you guys was so helpful I suggested adding "beers with non-shill 1L's" as a sanctioned event.sublime wrote:So are we doing a similar meetup for the April ASW that we had for the March one? Of course, the term "non-shill" is used loosely when referring to you and cuse.

Totally down, let me know.
I'll try not to get blackout drunk at this one so I can actually talk with people and remember it more. No promises lol.

Yea, for sure peaches and fiero, the more the better. In fact, I will hold it against you when you attend if you don't go. On the other hand, if you do, I will give you my outlines.Hardcore Coercion

Re: WUSTL c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
To be frank that was more or less my line of thinking. Naturally, being able to secure some money without any commitment other than a deposit would be nice, but the consensus estimate does seem to be that reapplying will not be detrimental to my chances (especially with a higher LSAT score.) Thank you again for your insight and as someone currently sitting in Jamesville, Go Cuse!!cusenation wrote:You don't gain anything by committing yourself to a school by deferring. You'll be admitted again if you re-apply.santaclus wrote:Many thanks! This is very helpful. I think I may end up just reapplying next year if that is the case. Depending on shifting political winds, I may end up being asked to stay longer so being locked in at WUSTL would be tough. GW on the other hand seems willing to let me defer without any constraints... It's a tough call to say the least.cusenation wrote:If you defer, you agree to enroll in the fall. You can't apply to other schools. And your scholarship is locked in, you can't negotiate higher.santaclus wrote:Anyone have any details on WUSTL’s deferral policy? I emailed admissions a while back but have yet to hear back. More specifically, does anyone know if deferrals are binding and also what impact they have on scholarships? While I would love to attend this year, I have been asked to stay on for another year in my current role and an additional year of full-time work would certainly help mitigate my future debt load. Any insight would be very much appreciated!
In my opinion, unless you're completely set on attending WUSTL (yay if you are), just withdraw and re-apply to schools again next year, including WUSTL
Deferring only really makes sense if you have a completely satisfactory scholarship package from your dream school and you have some personal reason for taking some time off
Consider re-taking the LSAT during your year off and re-applying

I'll be coming to April ASW with my fiancee. I haven't posted much in this thread, but I'm pretty entertaining usually. However, I am not allowed to drink alcohol until I retire. Nevertheless, I can sometimes blackout by force of will alone.
Should be fun!
