Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
blah just got a hold email. It's March 24th - I know I'm being held!!
probably will drop off the WL here - couldn't afford NYU at full price, won't be able to afford Columbia at full price either.
good luck to the rest!

Held today. Applied early December, complete early January, above both 75ths. Very disappointed, but not all that shocked after seeing all the other weird stuff Columbia's been doing this cycle.
And with that, I'll be checking out from posting until I can use my 1000th post for something more exciting.

I'd probably send one in, had I not been held. Its pretty obvious these holds are YP craziness at this point. So, if I knew that, I'd have sent in an LOCI for sure, I really do not think it is going to hurt and it might be the grain of rice that tips you out of the (potential) hold pile.koalacity wrote:On a unrelated note, has anyone who hasn't been held written a LOCI? I'm debating doing so since it seems like many of the holds were YP, and I'd like to avoid getting held if possible. I'm an early December submit/early January complete, so while there are definitely earlier submitters than me still waiting, they've also accepted people who went complete as recently as early March. Thoughts?
I just got held via email too. It's not at all YP in my situation though: I'm under the 25% for both GPA and LSAT.

Just got hold email as well. What exactly is the difference between that and a wait list again?

They still haven't decided whether to wait-list usjames.bungles wrote:Just got hold email as well. What exactly is the difference between that and a wait list again?
I think the only important part of the message is to let us know that now's the time to pull out all the stops with a LOCI...if we still have continued interest.

Held.
At 75th LSAT, 25-50th GPA. Complete 12/11
Well, time to get that LOCI in.
btw, "held" is a dumb status lol

I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explanation for how Columbia is acting...I just can't think of it.

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
really disappointed to see so many people still getting no decision. volume of holds seems high, astronomically so, when added to the other two big waves. they must have decided to use the class of 2017 as guinea pigs to see how holding everyone in sight works for their admissions stats. I haven't been looking at a lot of the other boards...does anyone else seem to be rivaling them in holds?
