So i think i just read on their website that the renewal of all merit scholarships is contingent upon ranking in the top 37.5% of the class. That sucks!

Iowa Law website wrote:Merit Scholarships and Fellowships These awards are based on academic achievement. Potential aid renewal for the second and third year for some merit scholarships and fellowships requires maintenance of class rank in the top 37.5 percent. Awards range from $500 to full resident tuition with a research-assistantship component in upper-level years.

EDIT: I'm a moron and just read "some" merit scholarships. I guess we won't know the full details until partial schollys start coming out...

With all due respect, you're not getting money from Iowa with those numbers unless you're URM.

Sadly, I won't be able to attend the ASW... As it turns out, plane tickets from Africa are slightly expensive.

With all due respect, you're not getting money from Iowa with those numbers unless you're URM.

Guess we'll see what happens. I've got considerable professional experience that may help. Have you already been admitted?

Does anybody have any thoughts/opinions about Iowa's new hire for dean, Dean Gail Agrawal from KU?

Whether it's true or not, I've read that the last dean was pretty awful.

JW, I sent my app in on 1/12, and have not heard anything at all since then (not even a "hey we got it!" email). Should I be contacting them or is this time lag normal? I'm just concerned as I'm already in review at other places I applied to later.

It is the best of any Big Ten school, and probably one of the best in the nation. That is, if you like to drink. Every one of my friends who goes there absolutely loves it though.

It's notorious in Iowa for having a rather vibrant night life.

Nothing tops MSU's party scene. Nothing, but Iowa is a close second...if you define close liberally

Amen. I would say that it is likely there are other University's with a better party scene, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find one in the Big10, or the Midwest.
