Thanks for the encouragement! Haha. In all seriousness my chances at CLS are pretty slim as well. But screw it, you only do this process once (usually). So go all out. That's what I've tried to do at least. Good luck in your cycle!Thomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:Dead.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:"You miss 100% of the shots you don't takeThomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:I have no shot at Columbia, but threw in my application thinking:

A bunch of my friends from last cycle and the cycle prior that that had interviews like that, where they put them in the defensive. My friends didn't think their interviews went well at all, but all of them were accepted. Hope this helps you feel better!at593 wrote:I had my interview today (25% GPA / 50% LSAT) and it was... different than the experience of other posters here, to say the least. My interviewer asked me why I didn't have a two page resume, why I wasn't working at law firm during my gap year, why I wasn't working in government after I explained why I wasn't working in a law firm, and so on with the difficult questions.
Overall I'm feeling a bit confused about it, and definitely leaning towards the opinion that it didn't go well. Did anyone else have a similar experience?
How strange. I wonder if it's a way for them to "test" how well you handle pressure like that.Thomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:A bunch of my friends from last cycle and the cycle prior that that had interviews like that, where they put them in the defensive. Congrats!! I got mine a couple days ago as well. Felt so unreal so I had to ask here haha!
See you at Columbia!
Hahah all of them were major splitters so interviews seemed to be mostly to ask "your GPA is lower than most of the students at CLS...why should we accept you?"brinicolec wrote:How strange. I think it depends on the interviewer, I am a splitter and my interviewer did not ask me anything concerning my GPA. I didn't have an addendum for my GPA either, but I guess my personal statement kind of shows why I could've had a lower gpa.Thomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:Hahah all of them were major splitters so interviews seemed to be mostly to ask "your GPA is lower than most of the students at CLS...why should we accept you?"brinicolec wrote:How strange. This is great to know. Any tips in particular - weird questions you weren't anticipating or the like?AJ1010 wrote:I would definitely be prepared to talk about it. So quick question: I have an interview with Columbia next week and if I'm gonna speculate it's either because 1) I'm a borderline applicant (3.67 + 170) or 2) of my C&F. Re: the C&F, I was dismissed from my undergrad for the first semester of freshman year for having ~0.9 g of a certain green leafy substance in my dorm room (my undergrad had a v serious zero-tolerance policy which has fortunately changed since then but unfortunately means that I have a nasty "Temporarily Dismissed" on my transcript). SO if this is something that's discussed in the interview, I'm wondering what the best way to talk about it is? I absolutely don't want it to come across as me being like "WHATEVER IT WAS A DUMB RULE UGH" but I also want to make it clear that I wasn't like dealing out of my dorm room, which I worry is the impression that will come across through the words "Temporarily Dismissed." Any thoughts/advice/recipes for stress foods that I can eat in the meantime?
I don't think that is why you are being interviewed, though.
As for stress-relieving food: brownies, obviously, right?
