LSAT and GPA I think. I'm not sure if one's more heavily weighted than the other but.. yeah. I also think that some might give fee waivers to those who might interest them in other ways/to get their app numbers up because I got a fee waiver from Georgetown but, from what I remember, my numbers don't quite add up to being impressive but I'm also URM so idk if that matters...RamTitan wrote:I'm guessing you get fee waivers based off of your LSAT score?

I don't have my GPA loaded into LSAC yet, so that makes me feel better lol.brinicolec wrote:LSAT and GPA I think. I'm not sure if one's more heavily weighted than the other but.. yeah. Regarding fee waivers, I want to point out for anyone who may not be aware that if you're low income and can't afford app fees, try to get an LSAC fee waiver. I got one initially because I couldn't afford my second LSAT, and as a result, literally every school I applied to automatically waived their app fee due to the LSAC fee waiver on my file. maybe this is so obvious that everyone already knows, but I honestly didn't realize they would all waive their fees automatically until I started my apps.

That's easy. YLS. 2 negatives make a super positive. Basic math 101TheMikey wrote:Not that I will do it, because I'm lazy af but what do you think would happen if someone OP'd both nyu and columbia? +1 doesn't hurt to try. Easy to qualify coming out of ft undergrad if you're fafsa independent. Paid for cas and my first last before I realized I could've had those fees waived. At least Sept lsat and future apps will be free.archipm wrote:Regarding fee waivers, I want to point out for anyone who may not be aware that if you're low income and can't afford app fees, try to get an LSAC fee waiver. whoa, i'm deeply offended that you just referred to both CLS and NYU as negatives. well, on second thought, you can insult NYU, they rejected me once and waitlisted me another time.TAD wrote:That's easy. For the record, LSAT will always carry more weight than GPA. In any application cycle, there are exponentially more high GPAs than there are high LSATs. That's not to say that a high GPA can't help you overcome a low LSAT in some circumstances, but high LSATs are always in higher demand.RamTitan wrote:I don't have my GPA loaded into LSAC yet, so that makes me feel better lol.brinicolec wrote:LSAT and GPA I think. I may have made it once before, but I'll echo Hilde's offer to be a resource and I'd argue I was even more involved in the process than she was because I have an obsessive need to collect information. Classes at CLS start in mid august and I may not have time to read PS's and such after that point (who knows how busy I'll be) but I'm definitely happy to help out if I can, just tag me in a post or send me a PM if you want my attention.

Shoulda been clearer. Negatives as in effect. (I.e. OP CLS get NYU and vice versa)benwyatt wrote:whoa, i'm deeply offended that you just referred to both CLS and NYU as negatives. well, on second thought, you can insult NYU, they rejected me once and waitlisted me another time.TAD wrote:That's easy. So how are the essays looking? I'm sitting on drafts of a PS and a 250, but I'm not super in love with them. Anybody want to swap?

Do you have any advice on coming up with PS ideas? I've sat down and brainstormed but came up with crap.benwyatt wrote:I may have made it once before, but I'll echo Hilde's offer to be a resource and I'd argue I was even more involved in the process than she was because I have an obsessive need to collect information. Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
I am slowly birthing a solid PS draft. Haven't even gotten to 250 but luckily we have more time for that. Chicago's Aug 15 app opening is kind of helping me get my shit together a bit faster.Kaziende wrote:So how are the essays looking? Not ready to swap yet but you're welcome to PM me drafts! I am great at being critical

About character and fitness:
My freshman year some friends and I were caught with beer by an RA. Only consequence was we all had to have individual meetings with the head dorm supervisor where we were all cleared and sent off with a verbal warning. I was specifically told that the incident would not appear on my record. Since I didn't really receive any discipline, and as far as I'm aware its not on my record, should I report this?

Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
The PS advice I always give people is to sit down and think about what story the rest of your application is telling. Who are your letters of rec from? What are they going to say about you? What does your undergraduate transcript say about you? Your resume? Think about the story your application is telling without a PS and then decide one thing that's being left out that you really want the adcomms to know. That's your PS topic.TheMikey wrote:Do you have any advice on coming up with PS ideas? Yeah, just disclose it. Odds are it's probably not on your record, but it's always safer to just disclose it. No school is going to care about this.woopig2017 wrote:About character and fitness:
