Re: Boston College Law Class of 2019 applicants
Not going to lie, I read some of BlueLotus' warnings/posts about his time at BC Law on these forums, and it made me take a more critical look at BC (and law schools in general).Manali wrote:Charlene, do folks at BC still talk about BlueLotus?cpochogo wrote:Hi everyone! I know the first seat deposit deadline is this Friday, so I wanted to offer myself as a resource to answer any last-minute questions you have! My name is Charlene Ochogo and I'm a current 2L at BC Law. Feel free to post questions here or shoot me an email directly at ochogo@bc.edu.
By the way, Charlene, are you affiliated in any way officially with the BC Law admissions/recruitment office? It might be a good thing to disclose. I appreciate your perspective regardless though.

Re: Boston College Law Class of 2019 applicants
Hi! I serve as what we call a "BC Law Ambassador" which means I give tours of the school and work really closely with the admissions office. I don't collect a paycheck or get course credit or anything, and I should mention that as busy as 2L year is, I certainly wouldn't be involved if I didn't truly feel our school is something special. I'm very passionate about student affairs and i spent one very grueling and rewarding summer as an orientation leader for the University of Florida (6,400 students, 25 orientation sessions for 200-300 students and their families). I think it's super important for applicants to know what they're getting into - particularly considering the cost of law school - but sometimes students are able to articulate that in a way that resonates more than the admissions office. You can be assured that I'm speaking honestly about my experiences and what you can expect from BC if and when you arrive, but I appreciate the question nonetheless!Roundhill wrote:Not going to lie, I read some of BlueLotus' warnings/posts about his time at BC Law on these forums, and it made me take a more critical look at BC (and law schools in general).Manali wrote:Charlene, do folks at BC still talk about BlueLotus?cpochogo wrote:Hi everyone! Also, is there a forum or Facebook page for students attending in the fall?

Charlene, what do you make of the bad school/professor reviews on here? Any truth to them?

Not Charlene, but I'm a BC 3L (for another month at least) and these reviews are really off-base. The professors aren't all out of this world or anything, but a good chunk of these reviews are disassociated with the typical opinions of BC Law students...Liu was great, what was that person thinking?!Manali wrote:Charlene, what do you make of the bad school/professor reviews on here? This is just really unusual. As an FYI, I've never heard anyone at school talk about you.Manali wrote:Student that was kicked out of BC for behavioral reasons.cpochogo wrote:Hi! Don't get too excited. ~25% of the class didn't get a ftlt job within 10 months of graduation. Not worth it.tuesdayninja wrote:http://www.bc.edu/content/dam/files/sch ... _bclaw.pdf
BC killing it again. Very impressive numbers. Although I withdrew I am certainly reapplying next year, hopefully with more scholarship.

Manali this thread is not a place for you to comment on the merits of BC.

Declined my offer of admission and scholarship offer. Think I am going to be heading to the west coast for law school.

You didn't called out the other current/former BC students who were offering advice in this thread (NoDayButToday, skri65, Charlene, etc). Employment stats of a school's most recent graduation class is highly relevant to 0Ls considering a school.A. Nony Mouse wrote:Manali this thread is not a place for you to comment on the merits of BC.
And I respectfully disagree with Charlene's characterization of diversity at BC. The school is very conservative, "old boys network", etc. I am a minority (WOC), and my time at BC was the most depressing, isolating period of my life. The administration is particularly hostile and unaccommodating to students with disabilities.
If BC is so committed to supporting diverse students, then why did the school initiate disciplinary proceedings against peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters?

I'm calling you out, Manali, because given your past I don't want you to post here. I'm not saying there aren't issues with BC but you're not objective.Normal discussion between applicants is fine, but this forum is NOT the place for non-applicants to argue or debate which law schools are worth attending and under what circumstances. The threads here typically involve people who have already decided to apply and are seeking or sharing news on the state of their applications. You and them and everyone else are all free to discuss whether or not attending is a good idea in the appropriate forum, not here.
Starting or perpetuating arguments here about whether a school is worth attending may be deemed trolling and get you banned.

How am I not objective? I went to the school, and therefore may have answers to questions 0Ls considering the school may have. Several pages ago I stated that I was taking questions, and numerous 0Ls have asked questions ITT or via PM.A. Nony Mouse wrote:The others were answering questions, not

Manali, I am also a minority at BC law and I would say that my experience has been unbelievable thus far. I truly feel at home here as do many of my friends. I feel bad that you had a bad experience but that is not the case for me and many, many of my fellow students.

Re: Boston College Law Class of 2019 applicants
You're not objective. You've previously spent pages arguing about how you could keep BC off your resume if you were a visiting student elsewhere 3L. You were asking if people still talk about you. You were asking other questions about employment and profs as if you never attended. People are free to PM you but I don't want you posting in this thread and that's all there is to it.Manali wrote:How am I not objective? If someone posts "should I go to BC?" in the choosing forum feel free to go to town. But in this thread it's going to turn into debates about the merits that are out of place.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
