I'm really starting to wonder if there wasn't some huge error in my application at this point that I missed. :?

Could also be that people are liars.

When do scholarships go out? Does UT do full + stipend?

I hope for the sake of my self esteem that people are liars. If they're true I'm genuinely confused.

Yesterday I got an email that said that they thought I was a strong candidate, but they wanted me to write a "Why Texas" essay in light of my non-resident status. I haven't done any "why" essays for any school, and I was wondering what the appropriate formatting is. One page? Should I send it as a PDF attachment or in the body of the email?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I deferred due to a family emergency. I'll be attending this year.

Applying early in the cycle, URM status, vet status.

I'm the 2.62/170 from cycle before last. Maybe not shocking now, but at the time, UT was considered to have a hard GPA floor, and TLS pretty uniformly told me I wasn't getting in.

Well I'm glad it worked out for you! Applying early with pretty decent numbers, vet status, and in state got me nowhere. haha

Whats the protocol for sending an unsolicited "Why Texas"? Has anyone done this, or is it better to wait until they ask, if they ask? Thanks.

UT definitely has an advertised hard floor (2.2). That said, I never (in several attempts) got in as a 1L with my even lower GPA (not below the hard floor, but below 2.62). There's a reason I was a transfer. I could have saved a lot in moving costs if I'd just taken a certain semester off in undergrad. (Well, I kinda did take that semester off.)

This cycle in particular has seemed to favor high LSAT scores over anything else, especially if the numbers on LSN are accurate. Only a few students on there have been accepted with an LSAT under the median, whereas GPA hasn't seemed to matter quite as much. This is unfortunate for applicants like me who are reverse splitters. It's funny to me because UT had been known for favoring GPA over LSAT statistically, but perhaps things have changed with the new Dean.

That's insane! Moving a ED candidate to the WL just seems like cruel and unusual punishment

My thoughts exactly. My only hope is that they aren't beating a dead horse; if I don't wind up getting an offer I'll never wear orange again.
