Yes, but it was actually the alleged rapist who sued Columbia, not the victim. She carried her mattress around campus all year as a senior art project - he's alleging that the University allowed her to engage in "gender-based discriminatory harassment" against him.

And now Salander's avatar and name make total sense to me :)

Is the whole trilogy as great as the first book turns out to be?
I've only read the first book as well! I started the second one but then my life exploded.

Yeah, I think it has more to do with the underpinnings of comedy.
Comedy = tragedy x distance

Where both tragedy and distance are abstract.

When it stops being funny is when the nature of the jokes start to become too close to home.
My mom just passed away last month and up until then dead mom jokes were funny. Now that the distance between me and them have reached 0 they no longer seem funny.

The greater the tragedy as long as the distance doesn't decrease at a greater rate the potential comedic return -> up

What these folks don't realize is that they're hitting too close to home on a subject they've never had to confront.

And most of the people who can afford the ticket costs to these stand-up specials are just too far removed from the real world in my opinion.

Exactly. The only joke that involved rape that I found ok was: "Late at night, on the street, women will see me as a threat. That is funny—yeah! That is funny. It's kind of flattering in its own way, but at the same time it's weird because, like, I'm still afraid of being kidnapped."
AND I'M NEW IN TOWN!!!!
